Threat Location Arrows (TLA) on a new detector from Escort - Poll
Would you be interested in purchasing a new radar detector with threat location arrows from Escort similar to the V1 arrows? Keep in mind that that this detector would most likely come with great support from Escort for years to come and possible integration with Escort Live to track threats and lock out falses. |

Probably not. It would make the unit more expensive, and I honestly don't see that there's much value "directional" arrows. I mean, if my RD picks up a signal, I'm going to check my speed, regardless of direction.

I vote for better technology detecting Lidar.

Better situational awareness is usually a good thing. I do not see this unit being prohibitively expensive. I do not foresee a reason why Escort could not get a new RD that offered this technology competitively priced with the current V1 ($399). If it is more expensive then this the question has to be asked why? The other question that can be asked is how can Valentine not be taking a loss on their RD with this technology when it is selling at this price point? There are a couple of advantages to having arrows to identify the location of the threat. The first being the most obvious that there are times when a regular RD goes beep and continues to go off without the person really knowing what is going on. A detector with arrows can help you spot, identify (and mark) the correct location of the threat. One of the most overlooked but also one of the biggest advantages of having a directional cue to a threat (such as arrows) is that if there is more than one threat most RDs will just beep. An RD with arrows will still show a threat ahead and or to the side (and possibly to the rear) if there is multiple threats. This is probably a rare case but again better situational awarness is a big deal. There is a reason why the V1 has sold as well as it has. I can understand and appreciate a V1 user missing the Arrows. But I use Expert Meter on my detectors. It shows mutliple alerts and bands

What about having the expert meter and arrows on this new detector? I dont see why they both couldn't be there. The digital display could remain the same but LED arrows could be off to the right of it. Even small digital arrows could be shown on the digital display next to the expert frequency listing if they wanted to so they wouldnt have to change the case/casing.

Yes. Having owned two V1's in the past, the arrows are definitely nice (though not essential).

Again, the Radar Detector companies need to improve Lidar Dectection. I am much more concerned with that over Arrows. If they adapt arrows it would be ok.

Not to mention that if Escort can incorporate this new RD with arrows with Escort Live so falses can be locked out and people can participate in Escort Live alerts I think you would have a lot of loyal V1 fans flocking over to the Escort side of the house. If that happens more cash will come in to Escort and it can be spent on making new detectors, making current detectors better, improving other technologies and making Escort Live more compatible and overall a better product. Understand, I am not disagreeing with you. My opinion of piorities is different than yours. Arrows would be fine but not a deal maker for me.
