Default How to get Red Light Cameras warnings **without** having to need bluetooth connectio

*** EDIT ***
please see the resolution I found, I put it in the comment below the post.
I need an updated version of the Defender Database, which will include the Red Light Cameras for Iceland again ( it was ok 1 month ago ) - the new Defender Database is broken today. At least for Reykjavik, Iceland.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there,

I have a Redline 360c international - I attached images to this post to explain the problem as well as possible.

Main problem:
-----------------
Redline 360c's **onboard** Defender database issue

After Factory Reset and Format of "Marked Location" ( "format ALL" in the radard detector itself ) I'm unable to get the Red Light Cameras back into the 360c without using bluetooth and the Escort Live app. I do NOT want to have it bluetooth connected the whole time. It as NOT needed before when the radar had this data in it.

Details:

I seem to be unable to get back the "Marked Locations" from Factory Reset after I chose to format them in my radar detector ( because I had some invalid marked locations which I've created by mistake and I didn't want to drive through passed all of them and unmark them manually in the radar detector itself). I need the Red Light Cameras warnings back into the radar detector, the ones that came with the detector out of the box from Escort. They're all shown on the map in the Escort Live app by the way, hence it works while using bluetooth ( Escort Live app running in the background ) but I never used to need that app in the background, see below:

I already did a "Merge your data" (TrueLock and Marked locations) with the latest Defender database as you can see on my screenshow below. It takes about 3 seconds to erase, update and save.

But nevertheless it will never warn me about redline cameras like it did before I formatted it! How can I get the data regarding Red Light Cameras back into the radar detector?

Like I said before, the Radar WILL however warn me about these cameras if I'm bluetooth connected to my phone while driving ( Escort Live running in the background ) ! I do NOT want to be bluetooth connected to my phone everytime I drive since it drains my battery and was not needed before I did the formatting of the device, from the device itself. It worked before without always being bluetooth connected to my phone. My father has the same detector and he doesn't even have the app installed, so it should be possible to use the radar detector and get the "marked locations" e.g. redline cameras without having the radar detector connected to your phone.

Everthing under "other" in the Escort Live including Red Light Camera is of course ON.

How on earth can I get this to work again? I need the Marked Locations by Escort back in my detector, without having the phone always connected to my Redline 360c international!

After I Factory Reset the 360c I both tried this option in the Detector Tools Pro:
"Merge your data (TrueLock and Marked locations) with the latest Defender database"
( it gets version 23.1.2023, marked as completed successfully" )

And I've also tried forcing "full update" option an update in the Detector Tools Pro which takes about 5 minutes, and that was also successfull operation but still my radar detector will not let me know about redlight cameras, without being connected bluetooth to my phone ( so the Escort Live app is running in the background! ).

I always try this against the same 3 redlight camerast and it always works when the phone is connected with bluetooth on Android. But never works any more with just the radar on (without bluetooth connection to the phone)

PLEASE HELP!

To summarize:

I'm using the latest version of Detector Tools "Pro" 2.3.4.7 ( this is the latest version )

I'm using Escort Live version 3.1.70 ( this is the latest version ) on Android
- I do not want to have this app running in the background all the time since is soaks up the battery on my Samsung Galaxy S20+

I'm using firmware 1.5 ( this is the latest version ) for the international version of Redline 360c

-------------------------------------------------------------

as a side node:
I also have to problem with the bands disappearing as posted on various threads. Hopefully that will be fixed asap, but it's already been a month without any fix from this sticky:
http://escortradarforum.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=20065

I was able to see the bands using the 'Drive Smarter' app for Android in the meantime

This is what is normally done to install a missing/formatted database and you did and confirmed it. Only thing I'd try is to disconnect from both EL & DS apps, do a factory reset and check that the Preferences for the cameras are on on the RD itself without the apps. If no success you may have to call Escort at this point because you seem to have tried it all and for some reason it still cannot see the onboard database that it confirmed you loaded. I've never seen this before and don't know if the Int'l model's database requires anything different. It could be a firmware glitch that just went undetected or untested as the format command is rarely used by anyone, but it should work properly nonetheless. Let us know how you make out as this is an interesting one.

Hi again and thank you for your reply

I found out what the problem is !!!!!!!

I have two exacly the same Escort 360c international side-by-side. They have all the same settings ( GPS enabled, Red Line Camera enabled etc ).

One WORKS, the other one DOES NOT WORK for Red Light Cameras.

The difference?

The one that does NOT work has a new version of the Defender Database Update 23.1.2023 <---- this is broken!

The one that DOES work, has an older version of this file.

Also verified that the radar detector that does NOT WORK, will work if I add a manual "Mark Location" and then 5 minutes later I drive by it, and it WILL give me a "Red Light Camera Warning" ! So the UNIT is perfectly fine, which is good! It's just the Defender Database which is missing these Red Light Cameras now. That needs to be fixed by Escort

Now the next question is:
I need to get an updated version ( or downgrade! ) of the Defender Database which has the Red Light Cameras locations in it for Iceland. I bought the radar detector one month ago here in Iceland and that version had all the cameras inside it correct.

Is there any way for me to see which version of Defender Database the radar detector which works has installed?

Is anyone from Escort reading this thread? Could you please update the Defender Database by adding the Red Light Cameras back for Iceland? They did work 1 month ago ( on the 22nd of December if you can find that version for Iceland, it'll work again )

The detector itself is AMAZING, the BEST I've owned. It has minimum amount of false alarms and is really fast to detect threats!

Interesting.

There is no way I'm aware of for a user to see what Database is loaded until immediately after an update where it shows the date, but then the date disappears. There is no way for a user to roll back a database once installed.

I would definitely call Escort and inform them of the problem because they do not appear to have regular activity on the Forum but rather mainly post updates to firmware as they are released. They used to be very active but for the past few years not so much.

To confirm it is a database problem you could try updating your second RD without formatting. If it works then you know it is not the database but rather a glitch that occurred during the format process and a possible firmware problem. As they say: "Do you feel lucky?". If it were me I'd call first before I tried to update my second RD. As you noted you can always use the cloud database through Bluetooth or wifi but like you I'd rather have an updated database on board.

Good luck . .

Hi again,

Wish I could just see the version number of the Defender Database. It's like you said, only visible right after the update and you can't look it up after that. See my attached screenshot ( again ).

I don't want to break the red light cameras in the working 360c international.

Like I said, the none-working one detects a custom "mark location" I created 1 hour ago ... the moment I drive around it, so the unit ( and GPS, Red Light Camera warning works on the unit. The database is just broken, probably it's missing the out-of-the-box marked locations for Iceland ) - I wonder if it downloads the US version from Detector Tools Pro ????

And I don't want to use the cloud version ( which I though was the same version of the database, but apparently it's not! ).

I found that out by reading this good thread:
https://www.rdforum.org/threads/107388/

What's the best way to contact Escord directly? I live in Iceland

I've already sent them an email regarding the issue

Kind regards,

The only numbers I've seen for them is their US location at:
800-543-1608
800-964-3138

I just tried to call them for you to see if they had another international number or answer the Int'l Database issue you mentioned but their wait cue was full so I could not even leave a message.

I've emailed them on a few occasions myself and I never received a response to any of my inquires. I had to call so my only thought is for you to try to call directly unless someone else here has a suggestion.

I did talk to Nesradio today ( the Icelandic vendor for Escort ) - but I bought the radar detectors on Amazon UK.

They are very friendly and gave me some advices to try out, but I really need to reach out to Escort themselves to fix this

Thank you very much, I called the US number and they pointed out to use the chat in the lower corner of their website under support. I'm not able to find the live chat although I see this label on the support site:

"Live Chat available 10:00 AM-4:45 PM Eastern Time M-F. Look for the chat icon at the lower bottom right side of the web pages."

Is there any chance that you see this live chat and could point them to this thread hear on the forum? It's very clear what has to be done.

Fix the Defender Database Update 23.1.2023 which is broken, at least for Iceland.

Again - big thanks for trying this out for me, really appreciate it
