Reprogrammable Microprocessor x50

Hi,
I read where the 8500 X50 Black has a reprogrammable microprocessor, does this mean we can plug it in a computer and download upgrades or we have to send it back to Escort.

What "upgrades" might this be? I just went to their web site and looked through the given info. What jumped out at me was a 50% performance improvement over the original 8500 model. There was nothing played up big about a reprogrammable microprocessor. What would the value of this be to you?

If you have Escort LIVE it can update the new Escort RD's with some features when/if they become available. .

They are reprogrammable. The X50 doesn't have a USB port so you used to have to send them in for a software update. Now with the Escort Live cord, you can update the detector yourself. There are limitations, only some X50s are compatible with the cord (rev 6.3 and higher). The first time that you use Escort Live with your detector it will update the firmware with the latest that is pre-loaded on the cord.
