Default Trouble with EL and Detector Tool/firmware.

My Max 360 was registered 1 year ago and the subscription has expired.

The device is functional except for Speed Limit display, generally whatever the subscription provides.

1. Subscription fails to renew.

I purchased the $50 subscription from EL app. Card got charged but subscription wasn’t activated.

I then purchased 1 year subscription from the web support page $24.- (note this is not the EL $50 subscription). Card got charged but subscription wasn’t activated either.

2. Firmware update failed.

I downloaded the Detector Tool for Mac. The serial number lights up green.

However, the check for eligible firmware is hung (progress bar is stuck).

I click the manual U icon, progress bar moves but ends with Update Failed message.

3. Subscription expired message shows when I restart the EL app. Even though I have a detector connected?

Some Qs: Why are there 2 subscription places with different prices? Which one to use?

As far as I know Escort still does not charge owners of Live enabled detectors for a Live subscription. Live is a phone app, you need to be connected and running the Live app to use Live. Defender is a database of traffic cameras and speed traps that resides in the detector.

You are going to have to call Escort Customer service to get your Live subscription straightened out. No one here can straighten out Live subscription issues. Ask for help with your failed firmware update while you are on the phone getting help with your Live subscription.

Don't subscribe, that's only for those who do not own a Live capable detector/cord.

Make sure you are signed in with the email address and password you originally registered with.

Just in case/for future searchers: Google or Apple gets the money and Escort is unable to do a refund.

Mine showed as expired a few months ago. Seems that after a certain amount of time of not using Live you get dropped. All I had to do was sign out and then sign back in with the email address and password I had originally registered with and I was good to go.

Recover your Escort Live password.

Update your Escort Live password.

If that doesn't work call Escort Radar customer service, available from 9am-5:30pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri at 1-800-543-1608. Make sure to have the detector's serial number at hand.

Defender comes in handy when you are not using Live. Live contains the same database as is in Defender. Live only works when the app is running and you are connected. Defender database resides in the detector so you do not have to be connected to be warned of traffic cameras and etc.

They are different.

Defender Database is a paid subscription (after your initial 90 day free subscription expires with new RD purchase). However, you may not need it if you always use Escort Live.
But there are also two different Escort Live versions, one free and one premium.

A third item, a software/firmware update for your specific model RD has always been free and not part of any paid subscription.

So to be sure I subscribed to the $50 plan _and_ the $24 plan. I’m assuming the $24 is the defender plan as it’s not available from the EL app. Only the $50 plan is available from the EL app.

To make it even more confusing I’ve seen messaging that “Premium” plan is free so long as you have a RD connected to the EL app.

Well none of the above works … LOL ☺️

Yes, it appears you bought a $24.95 one year Defender subscription from Escort.

You paid Apple $50 for a Premium Live subscription so Apple got the money. Escort is unable to do a refund. You might try asking Apple for a refund. Same applies to purchases from Google Play. Going forward please call Escort customer service you have any questions about your Escort Live subscription.

flylow is correct. We have never offered Escort Live premium subscriptions directly from us. There is no process to do this. They must be purchased through the Escort Live app which is handled by Google Play (Android) or The App Store (Apple).

Good news. Talked to a CS, turns out I had 2 accounts with different email addresses.

We consolidated the subscriptions under a single account and deleted the extra account.

Took a drive and the subscription worked.

The kind lady extended my subscription until 2025.
