Default Redline repair options?

Hello,

I have an older Redline I have loved, recently my car battery died one morning and seems to have shorted my redline out. Does anyone know anyone that repairs these units? I took it apart and confirmed the unit is receiving power from the cord, full 12v thought the plug, but beyond this I am unsure what to check for to be broken on the board.

Thanks ahead of time.

Charles.

You will need to look at getting a new Redline or another Escort model. You could call in to Escort and ask about this. When you say "older" Redline I am assuming you are referring to the original Redline that was released in 2009 I think it was? Not the Redline EX correct?

Correct. it think it said 2015 inside but not 100% sure.

I would think there would be an electrical repair company somewhere though. Capacitors used to blow on old TVs and such.

This is more what I'm looking for at the moment, before I have to upgrade.

As indicated above, you will probably need to look at obtaining a replacement RD. The only Redline that is currently serviceable by Escort is the RL360c (see link below). While there used to be electronic repair shops such as the one you describe I haven't run across any for years now. Most small devices are usually cheaper to replace than to repair.

I have an older Pioneer SX-980 Receiver/Amp/Tuner that I had repaired many years ago. It needs service again but not only is the shop that did the repairs previously gone, but when I contacted one still in business they told me that is was not economically serviceable and I should look to replace it. I hope you can find a shop to service it but it's an issue.

Default Additional feedback

FWIW back in 2013 and 2014,I sent mine in to the factory for software updates and front laser lens replacement.
Based on the comment above, I'm surprised they still can't be sent in for repairs.
Hey, if I ever decide to sell it i'll post it here

BTW 3 or 4 years ago, I thought mine had fried one time--called customer/tech service and was given a certain procedure/sequence of button presses that resolved the issue. Unfortunately, I don't recall what it was.

Offers/advertisements/links to sell, buy, trade, borrow, loan and so on are not allowed on Escort's product support forum.

Thanks for understanding!
