I drive I-17 round-trip between Phoenix and Flagstaff 5-6 times per month.
The powers-that-be have installed several "Speed Limit XX, Your Speed Is YY" signs between Black Canyon City and Camp Verde. They blast Ka for close to a mile before you get to them. I recorded 3 of them Southbound on I-17 this morning: Mile markers: Approx 252 Approx 249.1 Approx 245.5 I will post Northbound when I make that drive in a few days. My fear is that the police may park near these signs once people get used to the false alarms, using actual speed guns to get people. Other notes: At mile marker 276.8 is a cut-over in the median that is a frequent speed trap. Northbound, it is as you come out of a left curve over a slight rise. Southbound is less common, but does get used. Also, Northbound just prior to reaching Exit 262, AZ69/Prescott/Cordes Lakes/Arcosanti, you come over a rise. The median there is another favorite speed trap. |

Alive and well in Gilbert. I am sad that more people do not use live radar when traveling from Phoenix to Tucson and visa versa. It's like the whole trip and no one has reported anything. I mean, I'll report a cop getting donuts at Speedway exit.
Need more support in Arizona. |

I drive from the north valley to the east valley everyday. All around Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert. I'll give you plenty of data. The one thing that drives me crazy are the self driving cars in Chandler with their lasers. Sets the damn thing off like crazy. Oh well all my other data is good

With the ban of Red Light Cameras the reason for banning them is not just because people wanted it. It is against the law in Arizona for any township, city or county to specifically enforce "code" for the purpose of enhancing revenue. We were not told this when the law came into effect. The State Supreme Court was involved and gave their opinion. Yes, people wanted them gone but better was the addition of "no revenue enhancement" from traffic violations. So......... It does seem to me that "total" radar enforcement has gone down. However, I-10 from Casa Grande to Eloy is still active. |

I live in El Mirage. I manage a security company and come in contact with a lot of Law Enforcement. I can tell you only about 30% of AZ DPS use any type of a radar gun. There is a laser trap sometimes if you are on Olive heading east bound as you cross over the bridge at Grand Ave, it is two Phoenix motorcycle cops. If you want to get K and KA hits cruse up Lincoln Dr. in Paradise Valley or the 101 in Scottsdale. I have seen a Glendale Police sitting in the dark heading west bound on Northern Ave just west of Grand, but he keeps his radar gun down till you are right upon him. I noticed him back in March and I was able to slow down just in time right as he pointed his KA band gun at me, may have gotten and ticket if not for my 360. All of the photo cameras are gone in El Mirage, the city council voted to have them removed at the first of the year. I know Paradise Valley, Surprise, Scottsdale, Tempe and a few other suburbs of Phoenix still use them. I also travel to Queen Creek a lot and along Ellsworth Rd. by the service roads of Williams Field the Maricopa County like to sit in the dark, sometimes they have radar and sometimes they don't. I also noticed a speed camera on Ellsworth Rd. at Pecos Rd. I know Scottsdale used to have a KA band speed trap if you are south bound on Scottsdale Rd. between Thompson Peak and the 101, I don't know if they still do because I have not traveled that way in a while. I have encountered a AZ DPS on the 101 going west bound coming up on the 51 exit, he was using a KA band radar gun lucky my 360 alerted me in time to avoid a ticket.
