Question Storing alert location issues

Hi All,
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to convey the issues I am having in detail.

I have owned a number of Escorts over the years. I currently have two 360 MAX detectors that are both having the same issue. When I get a K band alert that I know is NOT radar, I want to store that alert location so it does not alert again. Everything I've read says the procedure is to press the Mute button on the smart cord or hard-wired smartcord 3 times in a row.
It should go:
K Band Alert
Press Mute button
"Mute" displays
Press Mute button 2nd time
"Store" displays
Press Mute button 3rd time
"Stored" displays and detector returns to previous state like AUTO, AUTONOX etc.

About 75% of the time after pressing Mute button twice they both say "Store", I press Mute button 3rd time and it goes right back to AUTO or AUTONOX. They DON'T store the alert location most of the time. Very frustrating.

I've tried rapidly pressing the button 3 times in a row, tried pausing between presses, wait for prompts before pressing button and NOTHING HELPS, no storage of the alert most of the time.

I've bought and tried a new smartcord and a new hard-wired smartcord. $70 bucks spent, no improvement. Still have same issue with both detectors.

GPS is enabled on both detectors. I know it's working as I see my speed. This issue is driving me nuts as I run into a ton of K band, non police alerts. Learn doesn't seem to work at all and both 360s fail to store the location manually most of the time. I estimate it fails 80% of the time.

I had a couple 9500s before these 360s and I was much happier with them. The MAX 360 alert volume is not loud enough at full volume. Stereo drowns out the alerts. I wanted to buy the small Escort external amplified speaker, but Cedar has discontinued them. Why, who knows? They worked great.

I have sent both 360's back to Escort for service because of constant alerts on country roads with NO vehicles or buildings in site. Escort replaced parts in both detectors and they do work better than when I first got them. I'm still not enthused with the 360's.

I am very close to getting rid of both 360s and trying a different brand.

If any forum members have some suggestions about the storing location issue, I'd appreciate them. I can't believe I'm the only one having this issue. I turned K band off for now, but I don't want to leave it off because some of the local cops still use K band radar.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

Since it does it on both, the only thing I can think of is that by the time you are pressing the Mute the second or third time the signal has been lost and therefore it has nothing to store. This would frequently be the case if the K signal was generated by a BSM or other a weak or wandering K source.

Only way to tell for sure is find a strong and stationary K source to test it.

Yep...find a department store door that sets the K band off and test it out.

Please report back after the test.

Since your false alerts are most likely from other vehicles BSM and CAS systems you will not be able to lock those out. The lockout feature is GPS based and these are moving false alerts.

Default Thank you!

OMG, I am so stupid!
I'll bet you guys are correct.
I'll test the 360's some more and see if they are failing to store because the signal is gone or it's BSM's before third press of the Mute button.
DUH! I should have figured that out.

That is probably all it is. We have all probably done or thought the same thing as you at one time or another. Hope it all proves to be OK . . .
