Default Bel/Escort vs Mercedes Distronic K-band

Not sure if anyone has tried using a Passport 9500 series or Bel STi in a BMW 7-series or Mercedes S-Class fitted with Distronic K-band cruise control.

I know that a V1 picks up weak K-band from it every 1-2 min. Anyone tried with Bel or Escort units?

Default Success with Distronic S-Class Mercedes and 9500ix

I have a 2004 Mercedes Benz S55 with Distronic and Parktronic. I just drove from California to North Carolina and back again.

Placement of the detector is important. One reason is the metallic coating on the windshield. Place the detector as close to the top of the windshield as possible and just left of the rear view mirror.

Everything worked perfectly on our >6,000 mile trip.

Beware that there were some changes in the 2007 and newer models with Distronic Plus. I cannot guarantee that the 9500ix will work with the newer models.

There are three sectors on the 2012 Mercedes ML350 windshield that do not have the infrared reflective coating: small rectangles to the immediate right and left of the rear view mirror and a rectangle at the base of the windshield directly below the mirror.

I have my 9500ix on a beanbag mount aimed at the bottom rectangle and it works perfectly. I imagine it would be even more sensitive with a suction cup mount on the glass itself.

Just another option.

I shut off the K band in my 2013 Mercedes SL550. I already had the x band off. I tried designating the sensors as false alarms but had no luck. No idea why.

I have no reception problems behind the Mercedes windshield. I have it to the left and above the rear view mirror. I also used it below the mirror.
