Exclamation Solo S2 won't alert to K Band, single direction Doppler radar

I’ve been a loyal user of the Solo S2, a great cordless detector.

One thing that has baffled me is that the Solo S2 does not alert on the Radarsign TC-500.

It bugged me so much, one day I stopped to copy down the model number and checked the Radarsign website. The TC-600 has replaced the TC-500 but the RF specs appear to be the same:

https://www.radarsign.com/radar-spee...ar-speed-sign/

Oddly, on the Radarsign website, under specs it shows “K Band, single direction Doppler radar” for the TC-500/600.

Any idea why my Solo S2 will not detect these signs?

What about the S3, S4, or any other Escort?

Thank you.

Your RD won’t alert because it doesn’t see the frequency. This type of sign is directional and will usually only show speed of oncoming cars.
If you want check the side of the radar antenna on the sign and see what the spec's say on the side of it. It might even say it's a FM-CW, and it runs around 2.45-GHz.

It could also be operating outside of K band.

Yea radar signs are not a reliable way any more to test a detector.
