Default Connectivity Issue

Very frustrating unit. Perhaps someone can lend a hand:

-I ran it for a few days with just the Bluetooth and the EL app. Like everyone, it randomly provided PSL on limited roads and worked OK.

-When I had some time, I went through the arduous process of connecting it to my car's Wifi, a 2017 Mercedes if that matters.

-Once complete, I turned it on and it asked if I wanted to update Defender...all good, and it completed the update. It also showed the white background for PSL's, though I wasn't moving...but it was there.

-When I left work that evening, it appeared to no longer be connected to the WiFi, no PSL's, and it would no longer connect to the App and BT. Just says unit is not within range.

-My iPhone, which I never used to connect to the cars WiFi, connects automatically every time I start it.

So basically, it is a brick now. Questions:

-Can anyone explain why it spit the bit?

-I read on the forum somewhere that to see if it is connected to the WiFi, turn the volume all the way down. I did that, nothing happened, then turned it all the way back up, and it said no WiFi connection. Since it did the
Defender download, it was connected once.

-Does it have to be reconnected every time, or is it supposed to auto connect? Since the App no longer BT's to the phone, can't enter the lengthy password anyway.

-I assume the advice is going to be to delete the app and start all over, which makes the unit pretty much useless to me. Who wants to get into that cycle?

Would like to see it work, so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks much

Almost sounds to me like the unit connected to your home (or another) wifi instead of the car's. Connected fine at home... when left no connection.

Unfortunately, not the case. I was sitting in a parking lot, not at home, when I connected it to the cars WiFi and get a Defender update.

Anyone know how to tell when it is connected to the internet? I got it to say "not connected", but not sure how I did that.

Went down the street away from any home or outside WiFi, deleted the EL app, reset the 360C to factory settings. After a bit, got it to connect to the BT, got it to connect to the Mercedes WiFi. Held down the BRT button, and it showed connected to the WiFi. Fingers crossed that it reconnects next time I start the car.

You didn't mention your model but (for a Max 360c for example), a PSL "blue" background means its connected to bluetooth; a "white" PSL background means it connected to wifi. It should remember wifi networks so it should automatically connect if working properly.

Once you are using Wi-Fi, you do not need to use Escort Live. Escort Live is only used to enter the hotspot's password (as it would be far too cumbersome to do using the detector's buttons). After the connection is completed, you can delete the app from your phone if you wish. Your MAX 360c will auto connect to your car's Wi-Fi when the detector powers on.

You can tell if MAX 360c is connected to Wi-Fi by the speed limit indicator on its display. If it is white then it is connected. If it is any other color then it is not connected to Wi-Fi.
