Default Cell phone camera to check heads

I installed my ZR3 and I have a laser tester. When I check the unit with the tester the warning alerts as it should. Then I took my cell phone as I have read you can see the heads fire with the camera and when the ZR3 was alerting I looked through the camera and did not see any light flashing from the heads, they looked black. Has anyone tried the cell phone camers to test their heads? Does this really work or am I having a problem with my unit even though it does alert to the laser tester. This only verifys that the ZR3 is receiving at this point.

Make sure that your ZR3 is set to "Shift," not to "Receive"-only mode.

Also, yes, this method of visualizing the IR-output of your jammer does indeed work.

Try a darkened garage, or, alternatively, do this at night.

In bright daylight, without a filter on the camera, it may not be able to visualize the IR-output and/or it may be difficult for the uninitiated user to visualize the output.

X2, its much easer to see at night. I wonder if the LEO's can see them going off at night?

It was set in receive during the test. I will try it tonight.

Not via current optics.

The TruCam should have this capability, however - but such video-capture should be capable of easily being defeated by various DIY methods.

^ Ah! Bingo.

Set to "Receive"-only, the ZR-series will do just that - they'll only "receive" the incoming threat and alert to it, but will not transmit the "reply" jamming output.

You'll want to set the unit to "Shift," otherwise, the IR-LEDs will not emit the reply.

^ In some areas, where active jammers are not allowed, this both allows this product a way around such regulations, as well as allows, should the user finds such use morally/ethically objectionable, to turn off active jamming.

Also, as the ZR-series really offers exceptional LIDAR detection, it's still possible to maintain a slight tactical advantage, to be able to receive scatter/reflections or up-road use of LIDAR, even without the ability to jam.
