V1 users seem to be happy and if V1 is truly filtering BSM (rather than ignoring portions of K band), then that's great. The V1's been around forever and a lot of users swear by it especially once it's combined with the phone apps.

I'm a plug and play user so I just want to put something on my windshield and go. I don't want to buy 2 or 3 different boxes and then have to connect my phone. That's why I run an Escort. A lot of guys over on RDF are more power users - they're hands-on and interested in fiddling with settings and such. More power to them and a lot of these guys have the V1 with the associated accessories.

It would be interesting to find effective ways to test the BSM filters. Reading on RDF, BSM ratings seem to be more "try it and see". There is a certain merit to this rather than saying nothing at all about filtering BSM's but something more structured and repeatable would be very interesting to see.

I really like the RPSE and I think it's very close to being solid, but it still needs some tweaks. I like the size and other things, but I still think it's a few FW's away from being where I'd truly consider hanging up my Redline.
I'm sending it back and will just keep on keeping on with my RL till something better comes along or if the RPSE refines a little more, but it's a solid showing IMO. But if I'm letting go of my RL I want to let it go without giving up the things I like the most, exact frequency, multiple alerts display, etc. We'll see what the future holds.

You can't go wrong with the Redline unless the BSM's bother you. From what I've read, you're exactly right that the RPSE needs some more firmware tweaks. And I've seen a few on RDF complain that the fw update pipeline for the RPSE seems to have slowed down. Radenso may not be a big company so they've got to prioritize where their efforts go. Now they have a few models so they're going to focus on the newer ones and the best selling ones. Still, the RPSE is their range king so I don't see the benefit of not refining it unless of course they just don't have enough firmware guys or it's just not selling well.

I'm lucky in that I like the Max II very much. It surprises me that Escort discontinued it but I don't know what's coming down the pike from them so maybe they've got a better unit getting ready to launch.

I don't think I'd like the Redline. I know that sounds like blasphemy to some (BelsCortFan's blood pressure will go up if he reads this) but when I got the Max, I had more range than my older unit so now I slow down sooner. I guess that's a good thing but extrapolating, with the Redline I'd slow down even sooner and with infinite range, I'd be driving PSL all the time. And then I wouldn't need a detector.

again the main point of my post is fix the other issues. We all know that the GPS is beeping on previous lockouts at times. This can and needs to be fixed. Also the display brightness needs increased along with white being a choice not just blue , red , green and amber. The white color that they have for the speed shows up better than any of those in the bright sunlight.

I don't know why Escort just doesn't release an update just to fix the GPS problem. Every other company releases new updates monthly or bimonthly to correct issues on my phone.

Roadrunner1 -

I (and I'm sure a lot of us) agree with you. You're not the only one who's had an issue with the display but I've been lucky that my display's been fine for me. When you first mentioned the white font, I made a point to look at my Max II and I agree that the white font would be an improvement.

As far as the autolearn/gps bug, I'm pretty sure I was seeing it manifest on the Escort iX I ran for 3 months. When I went to a particular location, I'd get "beep, STORED" on each visit - sometimes more than once - both when arriving and leaving. But I've not had the same behavior with the Max II I run. Why? I have no idea. I trust Escort to fix my Max II firmware if it's broken.

Yeah, I do wish Escort would do more to inform us of when a new update is coming out. And I understand if they're holding that update up in hopes of giving us an improved IVT filter. But I also think they could do more to keep us informed about when we can expect another update - especially when it involves a bug fix rather than an improvement.

IMO, none of the current issues make our units unusable. I think Escort recognizes this so the priority goes down. That may not be what we want but it is what it is.

Just my 2 cents and you have my apologies for derailing the thread.

Dan

This thread has got somewhat off topic... however, I face this issue daily... it is very annoying. I even sent my unit in... which helped determine they had this issue going on.

We were promised an update from EscortRadar quite some time ago. I for one, would like to see known issues addressed in a more timely manner.

Things like BSM and enhancements can always be tweaked in time... but known issues need fixed.

You're saying you sent your unit in back when ER asked for customer units to examine?

Did they explain what was going on (the bug) to you?

ER made a brief comment here about it being related to closely spaced lockouts. And that was exactly the situation I had with the iX I was running at the time. There's an apartment/condo complex where there are 4 door openers within 200 feet or so. My iX got to the point of giving me the beep-stored behavior on each visit. Sometimes twice. My Max II doesn't do that and I cleared the iX lockouts and that behavior hasn't reappeared on the iX.

Did you clear your lockouts and, if so, did the behavior repeat? Did Escort explain the bug to you?

YES-- i sent mine in. If I am not mistaken, it was one of my threads that first explained the behavior. As other people chimed in, ER asked for some units. He then reported that they found the issue and it would be addressed with an update. He gave a timeframe, but that fell by the wayside months ago. I've occasionally asked him about the fix, and I get a vague response like "its coming in time" or " it could be a few more weeks".

Yes, I've cleared them out... that works for maybe a week or so. It's strange, I have 2 locations that it does that daily. Other than those two, all other lockouts behave normally. BUT, it the 2 acting up are the ones I pass by at least daily... sometimes multiple times.

As I said, future enhancements, BSM tweaks, etc. can always be done in time. Things like that are a continual work in progress. It should not take this long for a known issue to simply get a FIX. I can remember the good ole days of the MAX 1.... they were throwing out updates like crazy to reel us in.... I fell for the bait I updated to the 360. Now updates are a thing of the past... and fixes are appearing to be nonexistent.

To answer one of your other questions... ER didn't explain in detail what the bug was... just that it had been found and will be fixed.
