Windows pushed a .net framework update today (I checked when this started days ago). The detector connected once but never again even after reboot and reinstall (for the fiftieth time). When it did connect, it let me modify settings although it would only accept auto mute and voice either both on or both off - never auto mute on and voice off. Now it's the same as before, software refuses to recognize the detector.

I promise that we haven't forgot about you GAF. I apologize for the delay. I'll see what the status is of this ASAP. Thank you for the additional information!

GAF, are you seeing any COM port/USB conflicts in Device Manager? Where it lists all the devices you will see a yellow exclamation mark if there are any conflicts. Also be sure that you aren't plugging the 8500ci Plus into a USB hub. If you have any other USB devices temporarily unplug them and see if it updates correctly.

There is a possibility that you could have a bad USB cable. Let's eliminat that as a factor. Send me a private message with your name and address and I will send you a new one.

Thank you

As previously stated and shown in images, no errors and same problem with three cables. I'm not using a USB hub. Please read my posts and don't recommended what's already been ruled out in order to create a needless delay.

Against my better judgement and resisting my inclination to return the 2nd detector I purchased, I installed the 2nd detector in my 2nd vehicle. I then booted an older windows7 computer, allowed update to install 51 updates and rebooted. I then installed detector tools and hooked up the new detector. Same result as with the first detector and no different than when I hooked up the first detector. I've purchased 2 new detectors with shifter packs from an approved seller and tried to connect to three computers all with the same result. What a piece of crap software you guys have.

I may have found the issue. Are you supplying 12VDC to the system when updating it? If so then that is probably causing this. I was able to recreate that here. With no power Windows and Detector Tools recognize it and work just fine. When I apply power to the system Windows will recognize it but Detector Tools will not see it correctly (no serial number).

Importantly, turning off the system by the power button would not help. Only removing power did. If you wired the system to a switched accessory line in your vehicle then update the sytem with your vehicle off.

That was it. I'd suggest you get rid of the error message I would get telling me to be sure the detector is powered up.

Great, glad to hear it.

I do not know what error message you are refering to.

Really, I have to show you error messages from your own product?
