Default 2019 bmw x5

I have a new BMW and my SmartCord will not fit into the cigarette lighter socket. I have researched and determined that the interior circumference is smaller in diameter near the bottom of the socket which prevents the tip to make contact.

Has anyone else experienced this and do you have a solution?

Has anyone heard if Escort has on their road-map to develop a USB version to replace the cigarette adapter?

Yes, I have seen an issue reported with certain BMWs. One possible link is below:

No I do not know what the solution was, other than hardwire or mirror tap.

I would be surprised if a USB 5 volt power supply is in the near future given its low voltage (and correspondingly lower available wattage), and the fact that a USB cord has no locking mechanism. But I do not know for sure.

You can find adapters on Amazon and other retailers relatively cheaply.

Search for: euro cigarette lighter adapter

I believe yours is referred to as: Hella Din

Solder a blob on the tip of the lighter. Worked for me and others. Remove the metal tip before soldering so you donít melt the housing. Just two screws. Problem solved.
