Default My new car has Max Ci 360, need help

Bought a used car which has the Max Ci 360 system. The dealer told me that the previous owner decided not to have the display and control panel installed in the vehicle and only use his phone to control/monitor the unit. Is that possible? I downloaded the Escort Live app on my phone and it detected and connected to the Max Ci 360 system via Bluetooth. I've driven only a couple of times since getting the car, but have not gotten any rader/laser alerts, except for a red light camera alert (which is not dependent on the system, but rather other user's entering this in Live).

1) it is even possible to use only the phone to control/monitor the unit?
2) how can I be sure that the radar/laser system is actually working?
3) if it's not possible using only a phone, is it possible for me to purchase the display and control unit separately?

Thank you!

1) Yes. It is possible to operate the system without a controller or display using only the Escort Live app.

2) Automatic opening doors use K band radar and are good to use to test a detector with. These are typically found at CVS and Walgreens stores.
Make sure the MAX Ci's Sensitivity setting is on Highway . In Auto modes it reduces radar detection range when traveling slowly.

Note that you can lock out, or store and ignore, these sources of "false alerts" which stops them from audibly alerting. They will still appear on the screen so you know the detector is detecting properly.

3) You will need to contact an authorized dealer for further assistance. Here is a link to our dealer locator.

Thank you!

That's great news! I was thinking I was simply out of luck.

I actually got 2 alerts this morning when I drove in to work. One K band and the other X band.

Is there any way to get the audio alerts using the system and Escort Live via my car's audio system/speakers, or since I don't have the display/control units installed is this not a possibility? Escort Live's audio alerts, at least on my iPhone, are very soft and not loud enough. Is there any way to link to my car's speakers to get the alerts?

Thank you.

If you are operating the laser shifters without a control pad, please set a shifting timeout from the Live app. For example, “Shift4” or “Shift6” will automatically deactivate shifting after 4 of 6 seconds.

Normally you would press the MUTE button twice on the control pad to turn off shifting.

Remember that prolonged shifting arouses suspicion

Thank you, jdong. That is great information to have! I appreciate your advice.

Do you know if there is any way to link the audio from my system/Escort Live to my car's internal audio? As I said, the alerts via Escort Live on my iPhone are very weak and not loud enough to truly be an alert.

Let me ask another way: if the system had been installed using the usual method, with a dedicated display panel and control unit, would I have gotten the audio alerts via the car's internal audio system? Or is it an external speaker that would have to be installed somewhere in the cabin?

My issue is that I can only use the Escort Live via my iPhone, since the car didn't come with an installed display/control unit and the alerts via the app are very soft, even at full volume on the phone.

Thanks again, jdong.

Well, jdong, I looked at Escort Live and didn't see any setting pertaining to setting a shifting timeout. What am I missing?

I would see if you can download the owners manual from escort. Next I would call one of the authorized installer locations and ask them. Not everyone checks the forum every day.

Thank you, butcher318.

I will call an authorized installer tomorrow. I have the actual owner's manual (came with the car), but it doesn't address any of my questions.

Thanks again for your interest and help.

Sorry for the late response. The Shift timeout setting was introduced in a newer software update and may require you to find where the installer left the USB cable to apply an update to the system.

Note that the main control unit does have a speaker and that is the normal speaker used for alerts.

Based on this situation my personal preference if I were in your shoes would be to go to an installer and see if you can get the control pad and maybe also display installed. Running a countermeasure system totally headless like this is doable but makes a lot of things difficult as you are finding out.
