The fact it either happens or it doesn't makes me think the design is ok, but either some variation in production quality or perhaps some rough handling is causing something to go off the rails. This is where Escort needs to get a full on QA push going to dig in.

This is an excellent device and worth making sure everyone gets a consistent positive experience.

Angry Long wait on exchange

Mine also has a rattle and has exhibited bizarre behavior. I was just going to return it, but decided to go for an exchange. I got thru on July 7, and was told that the July shipment was spoken for, and they would fit in the exchange as soon as possible. It has been a month, so I tried to call in to see what the status of the exchange was, but every day when I call I get a message that the wait queue is completely full, and I cannot even set up a call back. Hopefully I will get this done in the August shipment, but it would be nice to be able to get thru to customer service to see what is going on with it.

The best advice I can give is try to call right at opening time so you get in line.....
