Default Database Source Clarification & Other FAQs

I wanted to clarify the operational source of the two Data Bases (Defender Database and User Mark/Lockout Database) in use at any one time under the circumstances below. I ask this because one of the answers given in an unrelated thread seemed to indicate that the database source might be different when a connected ("c") RD is operating in its "c" wi-fi mode vs its bluetooth mode as respects Escort Live (EL):

1. RD Only (no EL):
Defender . . . from RD's onboard memory
User Marks . . . from RD's onboard memory

2. RD using EL via Bluetooth:
Defender . . from EL cloud
User Marks . . . from RD's onboard memory

3. RD using EL via wi-fi:
Defender . . . from RD's onboard memory
User Marks . . . from RD's onboard memory.

Also, three additional questions for clarity:
A. User Database . . . is the onboard User Database ever uploaded or stored on the EL cloud?
B. Defender Database . . . is the Defender Database in the RD's onboard memory ever permanently updated (meaning when EL is disconnected) other than through either:
i). the use of DT Pro via a computer; or,
ii). on a connected "c" detector, through the use of wifi if so connected, each with paid Defender subscriptions?
C. Software/Firmware Update . . . Can any of the current or existing RD model's Software/Firmware be updated via BlueTooth/EL as was the case with the Redline with Smartcord Live a couple of years back? With respect to the Redline & SmartCord Live combo, was the firmware being updated on the SmartCord Live, on the Redline, or both?
D. If the SmartCord Live have its own firmware, are updates to it (if any) supported by EL or Detector Tools?

Thanks . . . just trying to keep us all up to date.

Brilliant query Poolmon!

This is exactly what I was speaking of when I noted the changes in the new EL app vs. the old app where my old markers that would appear in blue and are now no longer visible. It was nice knowing that I could still set markers without the device being connected to the internet.

I'm hoping we will be able to get answers to these questions, as the answers are not found in any of the owners' manuals.

The RDs & EL have evolved over the years along with how they can communicate. These FAQs would help to better answer member/owners questions that are posted here.
