Just to help clarify, unless you're trying fix something there's no point. There were never any updates to it. I know this because I went through the same struggle which btw you'll find using the search function

In the last 2 or 3 moths I've had 2 emails from Escort saying there are updates ready for my state (Oregon). It was only last week that I finally attempted to install the updates since it got hot and the detector fell off my windshield for the XXth time. Even though I cleaned the windshield with alcohol last time and used 2 strips of the VHB tape, it still fell off the first day the temperatures reached 80F. If I ever get it updated, I'm using Gorilla Glue.

I'm surprised no one has responded to this last post. The SmartRadar doesn't work like that. Those traffic camera/speed trap update emails only apply to certain radars and they're all GPS enabled. The SR does NOT have it's own GPS. Look at that email, if I remember correctly it lists the radar detectors that are supported.

The SR does provide GPS functionality when paired with Escort Live though and that's how I run it on my motorcycle.

I recall having this issue a long time ago and turning off one of the security protocols under Internet Security settings fixed the connection issue. I'm not at a desktop right now to look up the settings but it's the protocols like

SSL

with the little check box next to them. The one you turn off is 3 letters and starts with a "T" and I think it was version 1.0

There's a thread on this forum somewhere with the answer.
hey man, it's just 1.0? i did this and it helped. well let me get through step 1 of the update.
