Default Escort S55 Escort Live TrueLock

The description for the S55 says it is "fully compatible" with Escort Live which I think includes TrueLock capability. I travel some roads with radar speed signs that have been in the same location for years, plus of course there are some businesses that use radar. I want to be able to block the S55 from alerting to these. Will it interface with an Android phone's GPS and the Escort Live app and will the Android app program the S55 to not alert for locations and preferably a specific band at that location that I designate as benign?

TrueLock lock-outs requires repeated passes by the source for the false signals to be locked out automatically. Typically, it's about three or four passes. This has nothing to do with the apps.

You can manually "lock-out" the false signals as well.

My S55 arrived today. I had previously downloaded the manuals for it and for Escort Live. They barely mention TrueLock or do not say how to lock out false signals manually or otherwise, other than muting an ongoing alert. Many reputable detectors do a reasonable job detecting. The important thing for me is automatically weeding out traffic density radar and garage door openers, etc. I have had radar detectors since the original FuzzBuster days. My x50 was good. My V1 was better but it is not the latest. I am tired of constant false alarms. So I am trying an inexpensive upgrade to the latest Passport engine. False alarms are annoying and I end up not paying attention to ANY alarms or turning the damn thing off.

I still do not know how to lock out false signals, manually or otherwise. I do not yet have a premium subscription Live account, but the free android app does not have an option to block a signal I know is not being used for a speed trap.

The options are: cop spotted, mobile, light & speed cams and trap and other. If you click "other" it doesn't says what that does.

Is the option to block falses only available in the premium subscription?

Have you tried hitting the button on the right (either ignore or block) when that signal is being received? Itís next to the report it button.

Ahh. That may be it. Maybe the option doesn't show unless a radar signal is present. There is no grayed out "block or ignore" icon to become active when a signal is present. The android app and it's manual and the Smartcord Live cable and its manual don't provide any guidance on that. The only clue about that feature is a very brief comment in the ads. I did read some forum posts about the inability to block/ignore erroneously reported locations that are in the database.

I guess a huge deficiency in the S55 is going to be the lack of a USB connection to update that database if it is ever updated to remove the incorrect info, or I suppose to add camera locations if their use becomes more widespread in ME, NH, MA.

I just got the S55 yesterday and haven't used it, nor the app on the road. And I don't have the Smartcord Live BT cable yet as I am looking to buy it with a hassle free 30 day return like the S55 if it's not a sufficiently quiet upgrade from my V1.

You will need to use a SmartCord Live cord with your S55 in order to:
- manually lock out false alerts (it will not automatically do this as you pass by them)
- receive alerts on the detector to safety cameras (the S55 does not include camera alerts)

The camera database is pulled from the cloud so it is always up to date. You will only receive these alerts when using the Escort Live app.

You will receive a one year premium subscription to Escort Live with the SmartCord Live cord, a $49.99 value. A premium subscription includes Live alerts (alerts received from other detector users), and speed limit data.
