I've installed the firmware, and it works as advertised. No more BT issues.

I originally tried using the macOS version of DT to perform the work, clicking the green button. Unfortunately, there was no change in behavior.

I then decided to use the Windows version of DT, and use the "Update All" option under the "Advanced" tab.

Success!

So if we do not have access to a Windows PC, we are still screwed? I have a Macbook Air with DetectorTools. I just saw the post about the firmware update so I haven't been home to upgrade yet, but saw your post and another about it not working on MacOS High Sierra.

MAX2 vs MAX1
The update covers the MAX2. What if a MAX1 owner uses the Update Software in DT . . will it recognize that it is a MAX1 and do nothing, or will it change the MAX1 software. What is the latest MAX1 version # and would that change if the Update is performed by anyone with a MAX1?

I'm not trying to update my MAX1 without Bluetooth, just trying to find out what would happen if I did, since there will be MAX1 users that will push the Update Software button from time to time just to check for updates.

Unfortunately the Mac Detector Tools cannot install this update. You will need to use Detector Tools for Windows to perform the software installation.

poolmon, Detector Tools recognizes what detector you connect to it. If you connect a Max 1 to it then it will not install this update. This update is only for devices that use a certain bluetooth chipset.

It legit took (no exaggeration) 14 tries to update my SmartCord Live DW 2 Bluetooth cord... I though maybe it was the app or SC but I reflashed my PassPort Max (I know there is no update yet) and it flashed perfectly. My Smartcord kept failing during the write at different percentages. Finally completed... very strange.

That is strange. If you notice any issues with the cord's operation then it should be serviced. To set this up please contact our service department at the number in my signature below.
