Default False Acura reactions

Hi, i have 9500ix radar detector.
The questions i have:
- what is the latest firmware available?
- my radar is reacting on newer models of Acura cars(i would say models from 2012 and newer) capturing K or Ka bands, how can this be adjusted?

There hasn't been a firmware update for the 9500ix for several years. To find out if you have the latest firmware, download the latest version of Detector Tools, connect your 9500ix to your laptop, and run the application. On the Windows version of DT, click the "Update Software" button. On Mac version click the green "Update" button.

If the currently-installed version of the firmware is the same, you will be advised. and there's no reason to proceed.

Regarding the false alerts from Acura's and other vehicles equipped with BSM (blind-side monitoring) technologies that use K-band (not Ka), I'm afraid that little can be done with your 9500ix. It was king of the hill in its day, but it cannot be configured to reject the false signals from these newer vehicles. You can certainly disable K-band altogether, but that makes your detector blind to genuine K-band threats.

Most of Escort's newer models have improved technologies called IVT filtering that dramatically reduces the false alerts from newer vehicles that have this various driver-assist technologies. You may need to step up to a newer model. If you choose to do so, Escort has a "trade-in" discount for older models.

For more information about this matter, you can search the forum using the keywords "BSM" "CAS" and "IVT".

It's been a growing problem for every detector manufacturer world-wide.

Good advice from TBNTX. If your 9500ix indicates you have the current firmware just stop there.

If it is up to date and you proceed to reload it anyway, a very small number of users whose detectors were just slightly out of tune generated a warning after the update noting that fact, which requires you send it back in for service. Of course if you suspect it might not be working correctly, then by all means proceed with the software reload.

But it still doesn’t eliminate the false alerts from the Acuras.

The 9500ix is old technology and sadly it is finished as far as trying to get it filter anything so you don't get annoying false alerts. Time for an upgrade.

You will get some falsing no matter what you use. But EX has IVT and will be better than the 9500ix for sure.
