There is an update coming with bug fixes. The ESCORT iX's IVT Filter will not be updated

When will the IVT filter be updated on the iX to address issues with Acura / Honda IVT ?

So because I paid $500 for the iX instead of $650 for the Max 360 my issues with IVT won't be addressed ?

The Acura / Honda vehicles are the absolute worst offenders on the road. No detector maker has been able to filter those out effectively, although in my driving experience, Escort's IVT filtering is among the best.

Frankly, you can thank the automobile industry for this mess. IIRC, the FCC granted specific K band frequencies for BSM systems, but several manufacturers are using the same frequencies as real police radar because there aren't any penalties.

Thanks for the response, I do appreciate it !

My concern is I thought I read that Escort has either released an update or is releasing an update for the Max 360 to help with the Honda / Acura IVT.

I thought Escort was working on a update for the iX as well but based on the thread response it looks like only a bug fix is in the works.

Here in Chicago there are Acura vehicles everywhere - my detector goes off constantly which completely negates the purpose of having a radar detector.

I feel $500 was a lot to pay for a radar detector but if it worked as advertised it would be worth it. Currently due to all the false alerts it serves me no purpose whatsoever ( when it alerts I just start looking for a Honda / Acura, which 9 times out of 10 is the culprit )

If there are no plans to make this better, I need to figure out an alternative (I have been using Escort radar detectors since 2006)

Thanks,

Nick

I was told differently when I emailed Escort:

I have had an Escort iX for about 6 months now. Unfortunately there are many Acura's here in the Chicagoland area and my radar detector goes off constantly due to IVT ( I have an hour morning commute, a MDX was behind me on the tollway this morning so my radar was going off for the entire trip )

I posted my frustration on the escort radar forum last year and in October Escort replied "The ESCORT iX's receiver is not digital like a Max 360, so it's IVT Filter is not as effective"

Will the Max 360 filter out Honda / Acura IVT ? Is there any plan for a software update for the iX that will help with this ? I have been an Escort user since 2006 ( Solo / 8500 / iX ) and I am at the point where I am either going to switch brands or give up on using a radar detector all together if no solution exists.

And received the following response:

There should be an update to the firmware on an Escort IX coming soon that would add more into the IVT filter. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA for that update.

The Max360 already has the update with the newest IVT filter so yes, at this time, the 360 filter is better.

The good news is they are working on addressing the issue, I just wish we had an ETA as to when.

Any idea how owners would be notified when the firmware update is available ( other than checking this forum ) ?

Thanks,

Nick

What you paid for the iX has no bearing on it. Because the iX uses an analog receiver instead of a digital receiver (like the MAX detectors), it will most probably not receive an IVT Filter update. I apologize that you were told otherwise by an Escort employee, they were mistaken.

I do think it would be nice to consider updates for the IX, many long time customers including myself are IX users. Even if it were a nominal fee I most likely might even pay for an upgrade instead of switching detectors.

Thanks!

Thanks. So basically my radar detector is useless with no intention to address it's issues in the future. It is advertised as:

IVT FILTERô
Updatable system automatically reduces false alerts from moving In-Vehicle Technology sources such as collision avoidance systems and adaptive cruise control

"Updatable" being the key word yet I am now being told that no updates will be made available.

I can assure you I will NEVER purchase another Escort radar detector and will influence all member of my car and motorcycle clubs to do the same.
