I've installed every firmware update on my 9500ix, MAX2, Redline EX and MAX 360c have never bricked any.

I cannot guarantee you that Detector Tools will work with your detector or your Mac. I do not know the condition of both. Should = your detector is compatible with the Mac version of Detector Tools.

You can update detector firmware for free so you are welcome to try it now before purchasing a Defender subscription. You will need 12V power to the detector when updating it.

If you need someone to walk you through updating it then please call our customer service department when you are ready to perform the update. The number is in my signature below.

Note that a full radar calibration is done after a firmware update. Should the calibration fail then your detector WILL issue a "power reset" error message meaning it will require servicing. On a detector as old as this one is this happening is a real possibility.

This is not true. Should a 9500ix require servicing then we can service it ($99.95) which is far less expensive than replacing it.

If you are thinking of a 360c, now might be the time to call ESCORT as they currently have a Gold Package inclusion on 360c purchases. Also, you might be able to get as much as $120 trade in on the 9500ix if they still offer it and you do not want to bother with selling it. Sometimes they have additional dollar-off discounts you can add, you just have to call and ask.

I have not had any trouble with updating my 9500ix software either, but a small handful of others have bricked their units because they were slightly out of tune and when the RD recalibrated after a software update, it determined that service was necessary. Accordingly, while the update will probably be fine, why chance it if you are going to get rid of it.

I traded an original 9500ix similar to yours (19**serial) in on a 360c (which I use without Escort Live or my phone) and I'm happy I did. You did not say why kept your 9500ix in your drawer for all those years, but if it was because of all the false K band alarms, the 360c has much more advanced filtering. There is a night and day difference between the 2 detectors as the 360c also has arrows which are super helpful.

EDIT: Detector Tools Pro for the 360c does not yet have a MAC version so you will have to update via Wi-Fi and not your PC, unless you have access to Windows. Also, if you do a trade-in your 9500ix you get 30 days to send it in which gives you time to try the 360c first.

rprp,
I saw your recent post claiming to have called us and received information from a phone rep that your 9500ix is incompatible with Mac Detector Tools and Mac OS High Sierra. If true then this is incorrect. As I stated before, Mac Detector Tools is compatible with 9500ix's with 19 serial numbers. There is nothing stating otherwise on our Detector Tools website. I have contacted our customer service supervisor to remind our phone reps about Detector Tools compatibility.

You promoted a non-Escort product in this post so it was deleted. No other detector has Mac support so I can only assume you posted this to troll us.

ok no problem Sir. I am sorry for bringing up alternate brands i was just annoyed. its just confusing when the email said it is not compatible and you said it should work. Im still considering updating the 9500ix and buying a PC to do updates but its probably better to upgrade at this point and I am considering the Escort Max 360C despite the confusion I still think Escort has a better quality unit thanks for your help. Sorry again

Why don't you just upgrade to escort's IX model, its the newer version of the 9500ix

I think he would be happier with the 360c for the long haul (if he can afford either) as:
1. The iX is not full digital and as such does not have the IVT capabilities nor the probability of updating in that regard as does the 360c;
2. DT still has a glitch on the iX side which ESCORT is working on. Given his desire to have all things operational on the update side, he may want to lean toward the 360c where DT Pro is operational on Windows. This would be a big issue for him, given his original posts;
3. The 360c has arrows.

Just my 2 cents . . .

Certainly, thanks for understanding!

I highly recommend a MAX 360c. With radar being installed in many cars today for their collision avoidance systems, your 9500ix is going to false alert a lot. Using its newer all digital receiver technology, MAX 360c will reject these falses while still detecting radar at better distances and much, much faster then a 9500ix. I have no reservations saying MAX 360c is the best detector that we have ever made.

Be aware that we offer 12 month payment plans, or you can trade-in your 9500ix. Also be sure to become a VIP (if you are not already) so that you are eligible for any special offers that may be available. For more information please call our sales experts at 1-800-964-3138.
