Below are answers to Frequently Asked Questions about MAX 360c:
Q: I do not have a connected car with Wi-Fi. Is there any way that I can use MAX 360c’s Wi-Fi? A: Absolutely. If you have Wi-Fi at your home that is within range of your car, then you can use Wi-Fi on MAX 360c to update its Defender database (camera and speed trap alerts) and its firmware (operating software). As soon as the MAX 360c is within range of this network it will automatically check to see if any updates are available. You can also use the hotspot feature on your smartphone. Q: Why can I not connect my MAX 360c to some public Wi-Fi hotspots? A: Certain public Wi-Fi hotspots require the user to agree to terms and conditions (typically by placing a check mark on a webpage). There is no ability to do this with the MAX 360c. We are looking into a solution but cannot promise that one will be available. Q: Can MAX 360c connect to Wi-Fi hotspots using 5 GHz wireless technology? A: No. MAX 360c cannot connect to Wi-Fi hotspots using 5 GHz wireless technology. You will need to select 2.4 GHz before MAX 360c can connect to it. Q: Do I need to use the Escort Live app to use Wi-Fi? A: You only need to use Escort Live to initially connect your MAX 360c to a Wi-Fi network. Just like the first time that you connected your phone to a Wi-Fi network, you use Escort Live to connect your MAX 360c to a network and enter its password. Escort Live and your smartphone is just being used as a keyboard to enter the password. After the MAX 360c is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Escort Live app is not needed in order for the MAX 360c to receive data from the network. Q: Can I connect MAX 360c to a Wi-Fi network using my computer instead of using a smartphone that is running the Escort Live app? A: No. The only way to connect to a Wi-Fi network is by using a smartphone that is running the Escort Live app. After the MAX 360c is connected to a Wi-Fi network, then the smartphone is no longer needed for the MAX 360c to connect to the Wi-Fi network. It will automatically connect to the network when it is powered on and within range of the network's signal. Q: How do I know that MAX 360c is connected to my Wi-Fi network? A: The leftmost area of the display will have a white background and look like a speed limit sign. If speed limit data is available for the road that you are on, the speed limit will appear here. Q: Can I use my phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot? A: Yes. Please note that on iPhone, when initially connecting the MAX 360c to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot, you will first need to have another device connected to the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot before you can connect the MAX 360c to it. You only need to do this once, when initially connecting the MAX 360c to the Personal Hotspot. Thereafter you will need to be in this iPhone’s Personal Hotspot settings screen for MAX 360c to connect to it. Q: How do I update the firmware and database via Wi-Fi? A: Once MAX 360c connects to a Wi-Fi network it will check to see if there is a new firmware or new database available. If there is then you will receive a prompt on the display. Pressing the + button begins the update process. Pressing – cancels the update. If you cancel the update then you will be prompted again the next time the detector is powered off and on and connects to a Wi-Fi network. Q: If MAX 360c is powered off or loses Wi-Fi connection during the update process, will it be bricked (become inoperable)? A: No. We designed it to prevent this from happening. MAX 360c will continue to function just as it did before the update process. Once you select to update again, the update will resume from the point at which it stopped. Q: Can I force a firmware or database update? A: No. You can only update if there is software available that is newer than what you have installed. Q: Why are the Ka band narrow segments default settings set up this way? A: There are set this way to support use in countries outside of North America. As opposed to an analog detector like RedLine and RedLine EX which scans bands more slowly, MAX 360c is all digital and scans all of the bands lightning fast. Disabling bands or band narrows on an all-digital detector like MAX 360c only rejects alerts on the bands or band narrow segments that have been disabled. With MAX 360c there is no performance improvement when disabling a band or band narrow segment. We recommend leaving K band and Ka band enabled. Q: Is a Defender database update subscription included with MAX 360c? A: Yes. A 90 day subscription to download Defender updates is included with MAX 360c.

Users may continue to use their smartphones with Escort Live via Bluetooth to manage settings on the 360c.

As with all of Escort's other GPS-equipped detectors, new purchases include a 90-day Defender trial subscription, after which the owner can purchase either a one-year or three-year subscription. And new purchases also include a Premium subscription to Escort LIve, too!
Escort also offers a VIP plan that includes a three-year Defender subscription and a two-year Extended Service Plan (ESP), for a total of three years of warranty protection, and at a discounted rate. Speaking for me, I always buy this plan. It's not offered online, but if you call Escort Sales, they can set you up.

Is this a one time procedure you described; in other words, if I can borrow a smartphone, install EL on it, then go through this procedure, will the 360c automatically reconnect in the presence of that same home PC wifi router after I return the phone (and delete EL from it)? I have been finding that the 360c is not reconnecting automatically to my phone's hotspot.
To get it to do so, I find myself having to go into the hotspot setting and select the password section and then I find it reconnects. Don't know if it's just me or if any others are experiencing the same thing. This is an iPhone 6 with iOS 10 not 11.
