Default 360c Lock-Up Issue Resolved?

I'm reading somewhat conflicting info that the resolution is only for the 360 and not the 360c. One post mentioned that ESCORT has not received sufficient 360c lock-up complaints to warrant investigating. What's the true information? Thanks.

No it is not on the 360c. I have had two of them that both do lockups. Visual lockups and silent lockups. Usually you can see it is locked up by the screen grayed out but not always. A very very serious problem in my opinion.

Escort had me send my old one it and sent me a new one. New one does same exact things.

Stoopstroop,
You are the only person to report this happening and you have had it happen to two units that we have sent you. We noticed that you are mounting your detector directly to your rear view mirror. We believe this could be causing it. The last we spoke, I asked you to mount your MAX 360c to the windshield mount that came with your MAX 360c and see if the lock-ups continue. Have you tried this yet?

I drove your returned MAX 360c for a week, and in densely radar populated areas. It performed flawlessly.

I have had it lock up while on the escort mount AND while attached forward of the rear view mirror.

Please note: when attached under the rear view mirror it is actually farther forward (better view of sky) of where your supplied mount lets it sit.

I doubt this has any issue of the real problem you face but if it does you still have a issue that needs to be addressed.

It should not be that extremely critical of where the detector sits as long as it has a sky view and can connect to the GPS. Other brands do not have this issue.

Thank you for this information. GPS reception is not the only concern. Many rear view mirror mounts include electronics which could be causing interference.

We understand this should not happen, and we certainly want to resolve it as soon as possible, but until we get more data there just isn't much we can do. You are the only person reporting it at this point.

Have you seen the newest MAX 360c that we sent you lock up in another vehicle?

Actually I am not. Your Facebook page and other radar detector forums have several other people with the same issue on the 360c.

My old 360c I sent you yes, 2 other vehicles. The new 360c after 2 visual lockups and one silent/non visual lockups I put it in the glove box. I cant trust it.

Interesting. I have a 360c running in a 2016 Chevy truck for 25k Miles now on major road trips and have yet to see a lock up. Ran it in my VW bug for a 5k trip and not a problem either. This thing has been 100% solid.

Have to agree (360c), used it on a 3k trip and as a daily driver, No lockups yet.

Several people are reporting 360c lockups. I've seen it myself in bench testing with the detector mounted on the counter, no mount being used at all. I have it documented on video, it's up on YouTube now (I understand you don't want me posting my videos onto your forum any longer), and I even brought it up with your engineers specifically when I was at Escort a few weeks ago interviewing you guys there. It was one of the first topics I wanted to address. It's no secret that all of the 360 variants are subject to lockup issues.

I'd be happy to provide links, videos, and whatever else you need if it'd help you resolve the issue, but after speaking with your engineers who developed the Max360 lockup fix, it sounds like they've already started to put their finger on the issue and were planning on making the fix available to the Max360c and GT-360 as well given that the issue exists there too (though I've been hearing continued problems with the current Max360 with current firmware, albeit with reduced frequency fortunately.) In any event, the reports are all readily available online, including multiple people with 360c lockups, and Stoopstroop is not the only person by any means reporting this issue. If you're telling people that he is, something is very wrong.

To be perfectly honest, I was hoping that by getting a chance to meet up with you guys in person and discuss these issues directly, that would improve the likelihood of these issues actually getting resolved. Reading your post here though, I'm now feeling extremely disappointed.

Vortex,
You have been made aware of our forum's policy. Your videos are welcome here as long as they do not include links to product sales.

If anyone is experiencing this lock up issue happen, please let us know. Include what the circumstances were when you noticed it. When you see it, try pressing the unit's buttons and see if they respond.

We are certainly interested in reports of issues with our products. We offer many avenues to report them, including this forum. A lock up fix for MAX 360c was released before MAX 360. Other than Stoopstroop's reports, we are no longer hearing about this issue with MAX 360c from phone calls, forum posts, online reviews or reports from our distributors. We have also had no reports of it continuing to happen on MAX 360 since the last update.

The Beltronics GT-360 is based on the MAX 360, not the MAX 360c. A lock-up fix for GT-360 is coming soon. There have been no reports of GT-7 lockups on the Beltronics forum.
