Default Radio issue due to radar, per suburu

We have 2017 Suburu Forester with navigation. Since Sept 2017 we have had repeated issues with the radio freezing. After 3 radio replacements and 90+ days of the car being in service, there is still no solutions. On March 30th, the issue repeated again. Suburu is now saying it is due to the radar detector (9500ix). They have the car and radar detector for further testing. Seems like they are really grasping at straws to solve this mystery.

What radio are you talking about? I guess it's not clear, are you talking about the stereo in the vehicle? A touch screen display?

When the headunit freezes, no buttons on the touch screen are operable. Even using the steering wheel controls are ineffective. I just received a call from Subaru NA customer rep, she is stating that per tech support that the radar is not to be used in the vehicle. I told her that seemed ridiculous, because if its is not a radar, it could be a cell phone or GPS. I asked if there is documented evidence or if this is speculation. She stated that is just what she was told by tech support. I requested documentation, so i will wait to see.

I agree with you, but be mindful that most radar detectors do emit radar-like signals (Redline and Redline EX, notwithstanding), but magnitudes less powerful than an actual LEO's radar gun. I have to wonder if the Subarus head unit freezes when a LEO triggers his Radar speed gun. And if Radar is the issue, why don't those speed signs and garage door openers affect it? And, of course, many vehicles on the road emit K-band radar from their built-in BSM/CAS systems. To me, I think that it's a stretch for Subaru to claim that the detector is the issue. If that explanation is valid, why aren't there more Subaru drivers who have radar detectors in their vehicles reporting this, too?

This doesn't seem sensible to me.
