EscortRadar,

I do appreciate your response, and I hope you understand my main issue is that, as JamesB stated, I bought the IX based on the assumption that the unit would have the ability to reduce false alerts from IVT and have the capability to be updated. If I had been told that the only way to get updates and ensure that most IVT signals were filtered out would be to purchase the Max 360 I would have done so. Now I am stuck with a radar detector that I hate since it goes off constantly, even though the unit is less than a year old.

If Escort truly stood behind their product they would allow me to return the IX for a credit against the Max 360 ( for the price I paid since it does not work as advertised ). If you look at the comparison chart on the Escort website it shows the only difference between the IX and the Max 360 is directional alert arrows, which I was not interested in paying $150 for:

https://www.escortradar.com/escort-comparison-chart.php

If it was clear that I would need to buy the 360 for true IVT filtering and update capability I would have done so. The only thing mentioned on the website for the 360 is that the digital signal processing provides extreme range and lightning fast response ( it sees farther, quicker, and with greater accuracy ), it makes no mention of increased capability to filter out IVT or the ability to be updated better than the IX:

As I mentioned in another thread, I had these concerns when I purchased the detector, I emailed Escort and was told an update for my IX was in progress. I was then told this was untrue and now I am stuck.

I do appreciate the open dialog on this forum since it may help others in the future make a better informed decision when purchasing a detector from your company, unfortunately that doesn't do me much good in my present situation unless Escort would admit that the IX does not work as advertised and would offer those wishing to pay to upgrade to the Max 360 the ability to do so.

Nick

Yes, I kept my IX past the 30 day return window because an update was coming. Give me a credit towards an upgrade, otherwise i am done with Escort.

I would do the same. I've had mine for ~6 months. had to turn off K band all together. If they would credit me for what I paid and allowed me to get a 360c I would but I also got free defender database and 3 year warranty so I would want that transferred too.

It would be nice if a trade in allowance was offered. I don't think Escort has one running right now do they?

Sad to see this happening. They can solve the whole situation by doing an IVT update.

It seems they can't update the IVT on the IX. The whole unit seems to be analog or at least doesn't have the ability to store the software that would have to be updated to process the signals and determine it's IVT. They haven't even update the lockout issue so it works on a par with the 9500ix. I like the IX but the ability to update it seems dubious at this point.

Our all-digital MAX 360 detectors can more accurately distinguish these signals from police radar and reject them.
Actually, that is incorrect. You can turn off certain frequencies of Ka band on the IX, but with K band it is all or nothing. This does not help me out since the Honda / Acura alerts are occurring on K band, and police in this area do use radar that utilizes K band.

It wasn't just the employee that told us, it's your website, still, as of this moment. Just took this capture off of the IX page!! I don't know what you're definition of "updateable" is but it's pretty clear to all of us.

That is an accurate definition of the IVT Filter. The ESCORT iX has an IVT Filter which is capable of receiving updates. I am just letting you know that it does not appear there will be any future IVT Filter updates released for the ESCORT iX.

EscortRadar,

As an owner of the X50, the 9500ix, and now the Escort IX, I've been following this thread with great interest. Given my satisfaction with the earlier models (along with the company's excellent reputation), I was ever-hopeful that Escort would find a way to make good on the over-hyped promises that were made about the effectiveness IVT Filter. Based on your response as an official company representative, Escort is more concerned with arguing semantics... an "updatable filter" for which updates are not being released, is effectively "non-updatable".

From what I've come to understand, the analog filter in the IX is the root cause as to why it's not able to filter as effectively as the digital filter in the Max 360. I'm not upset that the technology in the IX isn't as advanced as the Max 360, but what does concern me is that there's no distinction made in any of the advertising materials (even now) stating this extremely important distinction. If I had known this important fact while I was doing my research, I would have gladly paid the extra expense for the more advanced (and truly updatable) detector (as I'm sure would many others in this forum).

Many of us have been loyal and happy Escort customers for many years. It would go a long way towards better customer relations, if Escort were willing to provide customers who are unsatisfied with the performance of the IX with an upgrade path to a Max 360 in the form of a more reasonable rebate, instead of the $80 currently being offered on the trade-in program.

Thank you for listening to your customers...
