Finally, some viable alternatives to what's out been there and from early reports more efficient head usage!

Would expect it to work better with certain vehicles than the original Calibre which had compatibility issues.

Really looking forward to testing these units against the latest DE v5.xx. Even though DE represents, I understand, about 2% of the total laser usage out there (Kustoms PL4s) much more common, it's still going to be interesting.

Great job Larry/Escort!

Exclamation ZW5 Direct Wire version is available from EscortRadar.com

ZW5 with Direct Wire is now available directly from us at 1-800-964-3138 and from our website.

This ZW5 kit includes a direct wire SmartCord which requires installation into your vehicle's cabin. Professional installation is recommended.

It looks like we will be off backorder in early May, possibly sooner.

You can still call and place your order at 1-800-964-3138. We ship backorders on a first-ordered, first-shipped basis.

NOTE that we will not charge your card until your order ships.

Do the sensor heads include mounting hardware like the ZR4 shifters had.

The ZW5 shifters include mounting hardware, but they are not like the ZR4 sensor's mounting hardware. They are completely different. They consist of a small mounting bracket and screws to adjust the vertical angle of the sensor. The sensor mounting bracket can be fastened to the vehicle using the included VHB double sided tape or by screws.

Heat shrink and a small bubble level are also included.

Default Escort up to it's old tricks again!!!

Back when Escort came out with the ZW5, it did not offer the direct wire version on the web site. You could only get it through dealers. There was such a outcry from Escort users over this, that on March 29th Escort started offering the direct wire version on the Escort web site.
On a April 4th announcement, Escort started offering $300 off of the ZW5 when purchased with a qualified detector. I called up and was going to order the promo deal, until I found out the $300 off was only with the ZW5 smartcord unit and wasn't available with the ZW5 with direct wire connect. As the ZW5 direct wire is now available from Escort and the price of both ZW5 direct wire or ZW5 smartcord cord version is the same price $849, why in the world now is Escort is still penalizing the users that want the direct wire version again by not giving them the $300 discount and only offering it with the smartcord version.
Anyone else come up against this issue and what do the direct wire people think of what Escort is pulling now. Ready to order the promo deal with the direct wire unit. How about you.

Please don't crosspost the same thing in multiple threads, you posted the same complaint in a different thread just 3 days ago.

Thanks!

I'm bench testing the ZW5 right now and noticed something odd. I tried hooking up one of the heads to port 3 (the bridge box has cables and ports to support up to 4 heads) and it works fine. The detector did throw an error that it was missing a head plugged into port 2 which is good, but surprisingly the head worked in port 3 as well. I don't have more than two heads to see if ports 3 and 4 remain active when both 1 and 2 have heads plugged in, but I was verify that the head in port 3 detects and transmits laser. Is this because the system recognizes that only 2 heads are plugged in and it shuts off ports 3 and 4 when ports 1 and 2 are in use?
