ESCORT One Year Limited Warranty

What this warranty covers: ESCORT warrants your product against all defects in materials and workmanship.

For how long: One (1) year from the date of the original purchase.

What we will do: ESCORT, at our discretion, will either repair or replace your product free of charge.

What we will not do: ESCORT will not pay shipping charges that you incur for sending your product to us.

What you must do to maintain this warranty: Show original proof of purchase from an authorized ESCORT dealer.

Warranty Exclusions: Warranty does not apply to your product under any of the following conditions: 1. The serial number has been removed or modified. 2. Your product has been subjected to misuse or damage (including water damage, physical abuse, and/or improper installation). 3. Your product has been modified in any way. 4. Your receipt or proof-of-purchase is from a non-authorized dealer or internet auction site including E-bay, U-bid, or other non-authorized resellers.

To obtain service: 1. Contact ESCORT (800-543-1608) to obtain a Return Authorization number. 2. Properly pack your product and include: your name, complete return address, written description of the problem with your product, daytime telephone number, and a copy of the original purchase receipt. 3. Label the outside of the package clearly with your Return Authorization number. Ship the product pre-paid (insured, for your protection) to: Escort Inc., 5440 West Chester Rd., West Chester, OH 45069.

LIMITATION OF WARRANTY: EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN, YOU ARE ACQUIRING THE PRODUCT "AS IS" AND "WHERE IS", WITHOUT REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY. Warranty Information
Each product we manufacture is covered by our factory warranty. While each product may have unique components and policy, the general guideline below will apply to most Escort Inc. products.

All Escort Inc. models purchased factory-direct or from our Authorized Resellers will come with a full one-year warranty from the date of the original retail purchase (see policy statement above for full warranty details and exclusions).
Standard accessories packaged with each model will have a one-year factory warranty.
Remote installed system components have a one year factory warranty.
Accessory items have a six (6) month factory warranty.
Extended Service Plans add two (2) additional years to the original factory warranty. The Escort Service Plan extends the factory warranty to the applicable model or unit, but will not extend the warranty to any accessories (whether packaged with the model or separately).


Other legal rights: This Warranty gives you specific rights. You may have other legal rights, which vary, from state to state.

Electronic products fail. Even high quality ones. My Passport 6500's (or was it 4500?? I bought it around 1993 or 1994...) power input connection broke just after a year of light use. I didn't blame Escort for it. Sometimes stuff just breaks. Since then, I've owned three other Escort detectors, a Bel detector (after Escort bought the company), and a SmartMirror. I've been very happy with all of their products, even the first detector, which failed.

I'm not trying to engage into an argument about your SmartMirror's reliability, so won't post any additional responses. Just wanted to point out if your product did indeed fail in less than a year (with receipt from an authorized reseller), then it's covered by Escort's warranty. You should pursue that. I was able to get my SmartMirror repaired (yes, I paid for shipping my mirror back to them; it was about $10) and have consistently been very happy with their customer service.

No I actually bought it in Jan of 2014 so it has been a little over a year. I should have removed it when it first started going dark because at that point it WAS less than a year old. My point is why would I spend another $150+ dollars? ($140.00 to repair plus shipping) They are cheaply made and quality is poor. I could buy another one new on Newegg for $179.00. I understand electronics fail but at the cost they were at the time they could be a little more reasonable on the repair price.

I am not going to lose any sleep over it, just disappointed in Escort as this was my first Escort product and was looking at getting a radar detector also.

Escort Radar,

New problem. The mount on my SmartMirror broke. Not the part that's glued onto the windshield. The mount (bar/arm/bracket/etc.) which connects the SmartMirror to the windshield.

I've tried looking online for a replacement piece but no luck. I tried the local auto parts stores, but could only find an entire replacement mirror. All of which have the mounts connected to the mirror permanently. Not like the SmartMirror, which is attached to the mirror by 4 screws. I even tried the local auto salvage yard to see if I could find a piece I could swap out, but no luck.

The actual parts that are broken are the plastic cups in which the balls fit in to. One end of the mount is loose and won't snug down enough on the ball to remain in position, and the other end is broken so that the ball pulls right out of it.

Hopefully, you have this part on hand?
