Default Detector Filter Question

I have a MAX, MAX2 and 9500ix and all GPS/Location false filters work as advertised (several days, several passes and they're filtered out).

However, all 3 detectors will "auto erase" at some point and start over again.
I'm not sure of the time-frame but it seems to be around 2-months.

Is this a normal operation or is there a setting in the RD that I can adjust?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No setting for this.

Could be because of frequency drift due to temperature changes. I've never noticed any "auto erase" issues on my 9500ix, MAX 2, Redline EX or MAX 360c.

Moving this from the MAX 360c and MAX 360 forum to the General Detector forum.

Thank you flylow7f39 for the quick response.

In my case, I really don't think it's temperature induced frequency drift. I can pinpoint at least 10 location that have been automatically locked out (false) only to have them reappear (unlock) like clockwork on 3 different RD units.

The time of year (weather) doesn't make a difference in my case - it appears to happen with ALL 3 units (9500ix, MAX2's) about every month or so.

I've read on the Forum where an RD will "unlearn" over the course of time and was wondering if that was just the way they were designed.

Hopefully, someone else on the Forum has experienced this issue and has a fix.

Along the frequency drift of the sources during seasonal changes, your detectors will also unlearn locations if you drive past the location three or four times when the signal source isn't present. There is a particular source up the street from me that uses K band for its automatic doors, and they turn them off after hours and on weekends when the office is closed. So if my detector had the location stored during the week, but I drive by it three or four times over the weekend, the source will have to be re-learned the coming week.

This is how the Escort detectors are designed. There's no fix because it's working as designed.

Thanks TBNTX, what you describe makes perfect sense and would describe a manufactured design.

However (not to belabor the point), I am experiencing a TOTAL FLUSH of the "Auto Marked" locations in all three units.

In other words, the 10 locations that I described are ALL gone at once - the same day and they are separated by miles (not at one location).

Flushed in the 9500ix and BOTH MAX2's

If it were one RD unit I might conclude that it needed to be serviced but since it is all 3 units I thought it was by design. "Unlearning" an empty location one at a time makes sense but for a total flush of these locations?

I don't recall reports of this from anyone else.

I suggest giving Escort Radar customer service a call. Available from 9am-5:30pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri at 1-800-543-1608.

Thanks for your feedback anyway.

Maybe someone from Escort will chime in.

I plan to call Support next week and ask them.

I'll follow-up if I ever find a resolution.

Never heard of such a thing. Either he is mistaken about what's up or his detector is broken.

I've never heard of such a thing either, and I own several detectors. No one else seems to be reporting anything similar. And asking this, how would anyone know it was a total flush unless one drove past every single location that had ever been previously locked out?

I have observed my detectors "forgetting" some locations owing to seasonal frequency drifting over the years, but not all locations. Some stay locked out because the sources are better protected from the elements. When I do get an alert at the known location, I don't wait for it to be auto-learned; I mark the location manually and it remains muted for the duration of the season.

The only other cause that occurs to me is that a person might accidentally erase all of their marked locations if they are using detector tools an deleting the locations.
