Default X80 wont display speed

I can't get my x80 to display my speed even after connecting my phone to it through bluetooth, turn on location settings, and turn on "show speed on display" in the escort live app.

Are you seeing your speed in the EL app itself? The x80 doesn't have built-in GPS, and relies on EL to get the speed data from your smartphone. If you're not seeing it in the app, it means that your phone doesn't have a good GPS signal.

Yes, I see the speed and the speed limit in the app itself. It just seems like it stuck on the screen with the blue Bluetooth sign and the sensitivity mode I am on.

This means that your detector isn't "paired" with your smartphone. Look at the set up instructions on the quick-start guide, or download the PDF version from Escort's "User Manuals" section.

Am I required to purchase premium Escort Live? It says that my current subscription expires 8/16/2019. How do I tell what if my current subscription is premium or not?

I believe it is paired with my smart phone because I change change other settings using my smartphone. Such as detector screen color for an example, when I change it on my smartphone escort live app it changes on my detector.

Your purchase includes a full year of premium service. However, you must first register your detector here. Once you registered it, launch Escort Live and sign into your service by using the username and password you used to register your detector.

If you haven't been logged into your Escort Live subscription, this would explain why you're not getting PSL and speed data.

It says the serial number has already been registered. I think it may have already done it when I connected my x80 to the escort live app for the first time.

The app doesn't "register" your detector, so that's not what's happening. Escort's detectors can only be registered on their website. If you are seeing that the serial number has already been registered, then this detector isn't "new". What is the history of your X80?
  • When was it purchased?
  • From whom was it purchased?
  • Did you purchase it new or used? If you purchased it used, you'll have to go to Escort Support and have them transfer the account. There's a small transfer fee.
  • If you purchased it from a reseller, and it is within the reseller's return period, return it for a new replacement.

I purchased it brand new from my local Best Buy yesterday ( 7/21/17 )
