Default z4 install

i'm checking into getting first jammer install. local dealer/installer for escort told me they do not test after jammer install (out on highway with gun) because z4 has self test that tells installer if something is wrong (not level, etc). is this dealer giving me a story????thanks for any info/advice!

The Escort ZR4's self test will tell you if the laser system internals are functioning properly. However, an Escort ZR4 self test will not tell you if the system will save you out in the real world. Only the install of the Escort ZR4 itself can tell you that.

So, if a Escort ZR4 laser system passes its self test even though the laser shifters that come with the unit are installed behind say your car bumper, that does not mean the Escort ZR4 will save you in the real world (obstructed view of laser shifters = ineffective laser shifters).

I recommend you post a picture of your vehicle so we can recommend laser shifter placement.

Default ZR4 Install DIY

It is really not hard to install yourself. You just have to decide where to mount the front two lens. As far as being level even the manual does not say exactly level in which way. Does it mean level with each other or the road surface or both. I made made level with each other and the lens even with each and straight. I have had shifting alerts but never been tested with a laser gun. I think I posted pictures a while back. I finally ran rhe two front lens wires through the firewall instead of the door frame.

Here's the link if the pictures will help. http://community.webshots.com/album/...host=community

The shifters should be installed level while the vehicle is on level ground. They should also be facing as straight ahead as possible (squared with the vehicle), do not aim them out or in.
