Default Escort 8500ci plus Settings

I have an 8500ci plus. Does anyone know how to turn off the feature that shows you your speed first before going on to the band and strength? I would like the first text warning to be the band, I can just glance at my speedometer to know how fast I'm going. I feel this wastes precious seconds that can be used to know the threat and respond. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am sorry but you cannot change this setting on the 8500ci Plus. You can disable it on the 9500ci, it is called Speed Alert.

Thanks for the quick response. It's disappointing though, that an $800 detector does not give you the option to change all the settings.

I have a follow up question. I drove into my driveway one night last week and while sitting in my driveway apron facing my house, the detector started flashing a Ka band warning. Being that it's a one-way street without any traffic at the time and my car was facing the house, (which technically should have been blocking any forward reception) do you think this is a glitch or should I have the unit serviced under warranty? I want to make sure I can trust this thing.

Radar reflects off of metallic objects and can be detected from a good distance (miles). There could have been police using Ka in the vicinity that was being detected.

If you continue to notice strange alerts like this though then contact your installer or us if you installed the system yourself.

That is interesting because the manual for the 8500ci Plus states on page 10 under the SPEED ALERT section: "NOTE: When traveling 15 mph or less, your speed will not be displayed. If you prefer, you can turn the Speed Alert feature off. See Preferences for details."

This NEEDS to be disabled because it interferes with the ability to see the alert and strength. Either let us know how to disable in preferences or release an upgrade to disable it. Thanks

I agree that this needs to be disabled. I saw it in the manual and called up customer service but they didn't have an answer for me. Is there any chance of a software update that will allow us to disable the SPEED ALERT feature??
