Default New 8500X50 isn't showing up on phone at all

I recently purchased the 8500X50 black, I installed it in my car, downloaded the app and signed up. The problem is that I cannot see the smart cord in my phones bluetooth devices or in the app. I have tried plugging and unplugging, starting my car with it plugged vs not, waiting around for the bluetooth to show up, still nothing.

Any help would be great as I am really interested in using the live app.

Since the 8500 series detectors have been discontinued for many years now I assume you bought a used one??? You might try registering the serial number with Escort first. It's been so long I can't remember if this old model is compatible with Escort Live or not. I think it is if you use a smart cord. If for some reason someone is selling brand new ones I would return it if you can. This model has ZERO filtering for newer vehicle safety systems that function on police K band frequencies. The unit will drive you bonkers with false K band alerts. You need a newer Escort model that has what is called IVT filtering. Good luck.

If the serial number of your SmartCord Live cord starts with 80 then you must pair it through the Escort Live app.

Android
In Escort Live, press the bluetooth button in top right of screen and select "SmartCord Live" from the menu.

iPhone
In Escort Live's Settings/Devices menu, select "SmartCord Live" from the menu and then accept the prompt to pair.

If its serial number does not begin with 80 then there may be a problem with the Live cord. For further assistance, please contact our customer service department.
