Default Anyone think a brand-new iQ is worth $400?

The iQ is on sale here at Visions for $400. I don't care about the navigation but only the redlight cameras, autolearn function and how the big screen display alerts. I do understand that it will probably never get a firmware update in its life with the exception of maps.

I already have a Magnum STi but too chatty for everyday in and out of the city.

If you're looking to spend $400 then just pick up a new 9500ix.

I don't understand the IQ. It's a bulky/crappy GPS married with a 9500ix.

It made slightly more sense, years back, when they introduced it, but only if they were going to marry (partner) a Garmin nüvi with their Passport 9500ix. Then you'd have decent maps and regular map updates. I don't even know if they have or do offer map updates.

If you look at Amazon reviews, even when it was new, it was getting 3 stars at best.

I'd say get the GPS software that you like for your phone and get a nice mount for it in your car and then get a 9500ix (or a Max2 if you want to spend a few extra $$).

Just saw another post in here where they have offered map updates. Sounds like you have to call them and order it ($50). I don't think you'll find it on their web site or be able to download it like other maps (Garmin, Tom Tom, etc).

Much of what you say about the iQ is inaccurate ^^^^^. The updates are via SD card and are not downloadable via USB. THERE IS A COST FOR THEM AS WELL.

the iQ is not the marriage of a navi with an iX. As an RD, THE iQ is actually a navi with a built-in M4. It is able to display multiple signals simultaneously, the only Belscort unit that does this in expert mode. The Max can, but doesn't give the same info that the iQ does. It's a nice feature. Note that the iQ is not LIVE compatible ( wish it were), but offers much of the same features in the sense of RLCS , except it just doesn't offer LIVE police activity .

With a wide laser aperture on front, it's also a good lidar reception unit. I've been running one for a few years and although it's not my go to hunt, it's solid for those who travel and are also looking for navi function.

the 9500ix will also give you multi signal display in expert mode as well. Its not very flashy, but it works.

iQ for $400? That's a steal. I don't see Visions on our unauthorized reseller list so you get our warranty with it.

The iQ is a great RD, the 9500ix, with the best radar detector display/interface to date and a functional built-in navigation device. It is a large unit because the screen is 5" diagonal with the unit slightly larger so take that into consideration. It doesn't have all the extra navigation features of modern nav units but it will get you to and from anywhere and has some useful POIs and emergency contacts built in.

I used one for years and loved it. I don't need a nav unit very often (so it was always at home in the drawer when I did) but I always need a detector. When I did need directions then they were always there

It doesn't look like a detector either. Handy for when you have those judgemental passengers

iQ can show any combination of four signals with strength and frequency. The 9500ix cannot do this:

In this picutre you also see the speed limit, your current speed, direction, and the road you are on or the next waypoint on the route you are taking (turn right in 5.3 miles is displayed).

best stock display in the business is on the iQ and yes, it works great on the Expert Meter with strength and frequency

What did I say wrong? LOL Does the 9500ix not display multiple signals?

I will agree with you in saying that I am more impressed with the iQ display.

I guess I am not as versed in RD tech to see a value in frequency.

I will slow down for ANY KA band regardless of its frequency.

My 9500i displays multiple signals under MeterEXP. I've seen it display 2 K bands and 2 KA simultaneously. I'm guessin the 9500iX can do the same thing.
