Default 9500ix False Laser alerts

I drive a 2003 F250 Super Duty PowerStroke Diesel and the 9500ix keeps giving me false laser alerts. Any help with this?

Hi Richard -

it's very likely the result of Blind Spot Monitoring caused by modern vehicles. These sensors use precisely the same bands that police radar guns use.

There's not much that you can do with your 9500ix, but newer detectors from Escort have advanced filtering that reject the false alerts.

Every radar detector maker is dealing with this, too. Fortunately, it appears that Escort has the best filtering.

Your 9500ix probably well never be able to filter-out these falses owing to its design and its age. You might want to consider a newer model that includes Escort's proprietary IVT filtering.

Best wishes and Happy Thanksgiving!

My 9500ix gives a laser alert when I switch off wifi on my phone in my driveway. I'm sure there is no laser in my driveway. I also know I don't have blind spot monitoring in my vehicle (2012 Ford Expedition). IVT won't solve this. Fortunately, it goes away when my wifi is finished disconnecting.

I think he is talking about false laser alerts, not K band from BSM systems.

Could be from your smart phone or any kind of nav screen. LED taillights will cause this as well as sunset/rise at certain angles. Some people also report false laser when they are near an airport, toll both, or bridge.
