Exclamation SmartRadar for iPhone

Hi Everyone,

I see many references to Max 360 on this particular thread. I have three SmartRadar (iPhone version) that I am trying to update, but each gets into the update and fails with an error message:
"Error Updating your SmartRadar!"

1) One SmartRadar detector gets detected without any problem in Detector Tools.
2) One SmartRadar gives an error message "Unable to detect device version" or "Unable to load preferences" when starting up Detector Tools and connecting.
3) One SmartRadar gives the familiar Windows chime when connecting a USB device, but Detector Tools does not detect a device. I tried restarting the Detector Tools software.

I have tried both the Update All and the Green update button on the main screen. For Update All, the error occurs after getting to 100% on Update 1 of 4. I am not sure which firmware version my SmartRadar devices are on, since I cannot seem to locate this information in Detector Tools. Only the serial number seems to be available, though maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

I am using a Dell XPS 13 (9350) running Windows 10 Pro. I do not have the radar detector plugged into the car for power, only plugged into the computer. I run an iPhone 6s on iOS 11.x and experience the same issue described, with my iPhone able to see and add the SmartRadar via Bluetooth settings, but the EscortLive app does not detect a radar detector.

What information can I provide to help with some troubleshooting?

** FYI: I tried out an iPhone X over the past couple of weeks, and the iPhone X running iOS 11 and iOS 11.1 connected without any problem to my SmartRadar with EscortLive. Since my iPhone X and iPhone 6s were running the same iOS software, one connecting to the SmartRadar via EscortLive and the other not, I assume there is something with the hardware that allows one to connect and not the other.

SmartRadar for iPhone does not require updating its firmware for iOS 11 compatibility. Please make sure that you have the latest version of iOS installed. iOS 11.1.2 solved bluetooth connection issues affecting some of our devices.

I just confirmed that I am on iOS 11.1.2 on my iPhone 6s. No luck on 3 of my SmartRadar devices. I'll try rebooting my phone and will try again. (I've already restored my iPhone to test, as well.)

I want to add that tonight I tried to use one of the two SmartRadar devices that did not successfully update via the latest version of Detector Tools. The device did not successfully turn on. It seems the Detector Tools software bricked two of my SmartRadar devices.

Very sad...

(I switched to the third SmartRadar device that I did not yet try updating with Detector Tools, and it worked fine as a standalone radar detector (no iPhone connection, because of the original Bluetooth connection issue).

We are looking into the bluetooth and the Detector Tools issue that you reported.

FYI, I tried an iPhone 6 with iOS 11.1 and SmartRadar worked flawlessly. It sounds like an issue that iOS 11.1.2 introduced.

I can try to provide logs or more details if you let me know how to do so.

My availability during weekdays to troubleshoot via phone is limited since I am usually in meetings 8am-5pm PT. I may have a bit of time today between appointments later... perhaps you can PM me to follow up.

I am pretty sure I had these issues with iOS 11.0 and 11.1. I didnít pay have not had success connecting with my iPhone since iOS 11.

The bigger issue right now is getting detector tools to update the software correctly, since my radars are not working now.

Thank you.

It appears that there may be an issue with SmartRadar and Detector Tools, not just specifically with your computer or SmartRadar units. We are reviewing it. The solution will most probably come in the form of an updated version of Detector Tools. In the meantime we can reload the firmware on your disabled SmartRadar units.

Please send me a private message with your name, address, and contact information. Due to the holidays we will not be able to help you with this until next week at the earliest.
