Question What happened to speed limit indicator?

I have had my Passport Max and Smartcord for a number of years. I have never subscribed to the database. However, until recently, when I run the Escort Live app and it connects to the Max using Bluetooth through the SmartCord, I have been receiving indication of the current speed limit in the upper left corner of the display. Over the last several weeks, the speed limit indicator has been blank. Do I need to subscribe to the database in order for the speed limit to be displayed? If yes, why has it been working for years without a subscription?

You need a premium Escort Live subscription to receive speed limits. You can check your subscription status using the Settings/Subscription screen in the Escort Live app.

If you Escort Live premium subscription expired, contact us at the number in my signature. Your SmartCord Live cord included a lifetime subscription. Make sure you have the cord's serial number with you when you call.

I called Support, gave them my Smart Cord serial number, and they fixed the problem immediately. Thanks for your quick response.

Default is my smartcord with escort live sub free?

I also have a smartcord, or so it says on the front but I don't see a serial number anywhere on it. It is the smartcord that came with my Max II detector. Now that the app says my Escort Live subscription expired, am I able to contact Escort for a free subscription or will it be a paid sub?

The Max II has built-in Bluetooth, so the cord isn't relevant.

Try closing the EL app, and sign back in. Escort isn't charging for EL subscriptions.

Interesting. I tried to login to the website and it acts like I don't have an account or the wrong pw, which I know I didn't change. The app is still logged in on my phone. I've tried the reset pw and it doesn't recognize my email addy, even though I know for certain I used the one I'm trying.
I also logged out of the EL on my phone (android) and logged back in but can't do so on the website.
I wonder if I need to set up a new account (again?)

Update: I "created a new account" on the Escort website with the same login and password it said was no good before. So that fixed that. Then I logged out of the app and back in and reconnected to the detector via BT. I do show symbols for red light cameras, etc. now, but when I log out of the app and back in it still comes up with the "subscription expired" for the Escort Live. There is some verbiage indicating I can get a subscription or if I have a qualifying detector it's included. If my Max II is included then wonder why I'm still getting the pop up expired notice, yet I am now seeing user reported stuff.

Sounds to me that you need to call Escort customer support.

With the ongoing pandemic situation you'll need to call Escort customer service at 1-800-543-1608, option 2, Monday through Friday. Call right after they open at 9:00 A.M. Eastern time then wait for the pause following the message and use the option for a call back. They are still working from home and are very busy at this time. Once the queue gets full for the day the call back option is gone and you'll have to wait and call back on a different morning. Early is a must!
