Default Bought a car with a Max Ci, new to everything

Hi everyone, noob here. I've poked around a bit, and this is my first post. A couple months ago I bought a 2017 Golf R where the original owner had a Max Ci professionally installed. It's the first time I've ever had any kind of RD and since I didn't shop around and educate myself beforehand, I'm kind of thrown in the deep end, but things are great so far!

1. I've read the owners manual and downloaded the Android app, and I'd happily take suggestions for any additional "must have" information I should know about. JTK technique would be a prime example, but I happened to stumble across this myself already.

2. Things have been great for the past few months but yesterday "Replace FR" came up on the display, which the manual describes as a critical issue with the front radar receiver. During the drive or two leading up to this, I did notice a complete lack of radar signals (and there are typically false positives near me) and it might be coincidence, but a few days ago I mounted a front license plate for the first time (the previous owner never had one). But, on the very next drive after "Replace FR" showed up, everything was completely back to normal including some high strength radar and POP, so I no longer think my license plate is to blame. I haven't physically located the FR yet to know if it's near my plate... the installation is that good! Any ideas?

3. Should I get the name of the installer from the previous owner? The 3 year warranty hasn't elapsed yet but apparently it's not transferrable, so maybe there's no point other than they might remember doing the job and could tell me where they hid everything.

Congratulations on acquiring the installed MAX Ci! You started with the very best

1. To temporarily disable laser shifting simply double tap the MUTE button. The MUTE button is raised to easily locate by touch. The shifters are now in receive-only mode. They will audibly alert normally to any subsequent shots. After 30 seconds, shifting will automatically be enabled again.

2. Replace FR means a critical error was issued by the front radar receiver. It should be serviced (removed by an installer and sent to us for servicing).

3. You can contact the original installer if you like but it is not necessary. Here is a list of authorized Escort installers.

Will the message show up periodically, or is it a one-and-done kind of thing? I feel like I easily could have missed it if my music was up loud, so showing periodically would make more sense than showing just once for a few seconds. If this is the case, I think I'll wait until I see it again as confirmation that service would be worth it, since it's been working fine since the next drive.

The message displays for approximately one minute.

If you have not seen the message since this one time, then it is now functioning properly. The receiver calibrates and runs diagnostics on every power up and during operation. If you continue to notice this message, it should be serviced.
