So according to your reply. YOU LIKE IT WHEN YOU BUY NEW THINGS, ESPECIALLY EXPENSIVE THINGS, THAT ARE SCRATCHED AND HAVE TO DEAL WITH RETURNS AND WAITING AND RUNNING AROUND TO GET A NEW ONE LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT IN THE 1ST PLACE?

And according to what I've seen on their site- HAVING TO PAY RETURN SHIPPING TO DO SO

My reply was simply stating that since you bought from Escort direct you have a full warranty. Some third party or e-bay sellers are not factory authorized so those like new detectors have no warranty. And you don't have to worry about your unit being a factory second or knock off from china. If your not happy with your unit I would do as Escort Radar suggested in his post.

If you purchased it from us, and it is damaged/malfunctioning out of the box, then we would replace it and pay for all of the shipping involved. There is a time limit to this so please contact us as soon as possible to get this set up.

Sorry been a super long couple weeks. So I ended up exchanging it. Got the new one been running about 2 weeks. Had a bunch of pictures to transfer and wanted to wait to post til I got all that done.

The new one is scratched in the same spots. So either I'm the unluckiest person ever-not unlikely, or one of the machines on the assembly line is doing it and quality control isn't catching it. Figured I'd post a picture so you all don't think I'm crazy. I'm done messing with it, calling it as good as it's goona be.

The lockouts do work nice, I like the unlearn vs one where you'd have to manually do it. Wouldn't trust myself with as many if it was manual, but my concern-favorite part is the unlearn. With signals drifting, if you just kept locking out and not unlearning-you'd have all of k band locked out.

Filtering bsm's- maybe a little quieter than my passport, not as intense of hits.

The mount is cool for taking on and off but it does bounce a lot. Our roads suck but old one wasn't like this, so assuming it's either the mount or just the fact that it's heavier

Anyway, thought I'd give an update.
Eric

Forgot, does anybody know it that seperate speaker will work on this unit. It just mentions the older models on the site. I'd assume it would but thought I'd check. Don't think it's as loud as my old one and with the music up and windows down want to make sure I hear it and save the life of the detector's speaker

Thanks, Eric

It's compatible. You can use the auxiliary speaker with newer products that have a stereo output as well as older mono models.

Cool, good to know, thanks. I'll probably have to get it one of these days. Do you have to have it powered-like in the fuse box or would the detector power it just by hooking it to the headphone jack.

I ordered the long straight cord with intention to use the stock mount and mount it up high and run the cord along the pillar and what not but can't because it messes with my mirror compass. Probably see if anyone wants it or sell it and get that. Not like it's a million dollars but the funds just seem to be flying away lately

Thank you for letting us know about the scratches on your MAX II, we are looking into it.

Our auxiliary speaker requires 12VDC power from the vehicle.

Note that our current detectors, including your MAX II, all use a standard stereo 1/4" headphone jack allowing many powered speakers, amps, etc to be used for boosting alert audio.

Thanks for the responses. So how/what do you have to hook that speaker up to? Somehow run to the battery or fuse box? And since other speakers would work, I'm assuming you could use one of those portable bluetooth speakers but could just hook it up with a headphone cord but then you'd have to deal with batteries or charging it- I've never owned one but who knows if that would even be louder than the detector to begin with. Trying to figure out what would be easier-not the electronics expert. Thanks

Little off topic, but surprised how much signals drift with temp changes. Remember watching a video that said they change with seasons, but our temps have varied from minus 30-40 windchills to low teens the last month and they change quite a bit

eric15178,
I suggest going to a 12V installation shop near you and letting them know what you want to do. Look some up online to see who gets good reviews. Modern vehicles can be a bit more complicated than just splicing a wire or using an add-a-fuse.
