Default Radar Detector Dectectors . . . Preference Settings?

RDDs

Given that radar detector detectors (RDDs) sense emissions from most radar detectors, if a user turns off one or more radar bands in Preferences (or segments a band), does it reduce the emissions that are detectable by a RDD (turn off X band completely or segment Ka band)?

If so, would the same apply to running Auto No X, or does that Mode just suppress alerts while leaving the X band turned on?

No. Segmenting bands or disabling bands wont't help. Using stealth detectors like the RedLine EX is the only way of defeating RDDs.

This is only the case for a RedLine/RedLine EX/MAX Ci. These use a separate receiver for X/K bands and another for Ka band. These are undetectable detectors so it doesn't matter for them.

All other detectors use one receiver for all bands. Disabling a band simply ignores the alerts received on that band.

I had just been wondering if turning off (or segmenting) any band of a non-stealth RD might lessen the intensity its emissions such that the RDD's detection range could be reduced (for example RDD with a 1000 feet detection ability with all RD bands on, might be reduced to 700 feet detection with X band off).

So apparently the answer is no, there is no change in the amount/intensity of the RD's emissions regardless of band selection in Preferences.

The answer is no. Disabling a band simply ignores the alerts that are received on that band. The LO (which is what RDDs detect) operates the same regardless of what your band settings are.

Thanks . .
I guess it was wishful pondering on my part for my VA/DC travels with my 360c.
