Default Does the Redline EX store RLC's

Does the new Redline download and store red light cameras onboard like the 9500ci or does it need to be connected to Live?

Or basically, is the RLC and Speed Cam database local inside the unit?

Thanks

RLCs will be reported while Escort Live is running because they are stored in the EL cloud, but they are not automatically downloaded and stored.

The Redline EX comes with a 90-day trial subscription to Defender, which "lives" on your RedLine EX. It can be updated on your detector using Detector Tools Pro. After 90 days, you can purchase a Defender Subscription here.

It is local, inside the unit. If you want to update it then you will need a subscription as TBNTX pointed out.

Reason I ask is if I'm in an area with no cell service meaning no connectivity to Live, does the Redline EX still have a database internally that it will alert to.

The old Redline needed to always be connected to have this feature.

I do understand you still need a subscription to update the detector with the latest red light and speed cameras.

I believe you answered my question.

Thanks again.

If you have no cell service, then the cloud-based RLC details aren't available thru EL. That's an important advantage to have the current Defender DB installed in your detector.

The updates are released weekly, so if you use Detector Tools each week to updated the database on your detector, you'll be protected whether or not you have access to Escort Live.

Speaking of RLC's, do you guys know how to delete individual RLC's out of the Redline EX?

Does RedLine EX allow you to mark a specific location and label it (Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap, Other) for future reference?

This can be extremely useful when there are known speed traps or camera locations that you would like to remember.

Only ones that have been manually added. The ones in the database can only be removed if they are absent in a subsequent Defender DB update.

Yes, absolutely. Refer to page 9 of the RedLine EX Quick Reference Guide to see how to do so using buttons on the EX. You can also manually mark a Red Light Camera using Escort Live while paired with your smartphone.
