Thumbs down Well I got a ticket due to the lack of quality control...

First radar detector I have ever owned and have had it about 3 months now. My buddy recommended the x70 because he said price/performance was spot on. It has saved me from a laze once so I thought it was awesome. All the way up until I got a ticket today... My radar detector all of the sudden decides it doesn't want to make any noise what so ever. So after talking to the cop and signing the ticket I received because I had no warning I checked it yup everything works just fine... Except it was on full volume and realized it isn't making any noises... As in the the speaker is probably blown. I'm sorry but if I have to rely on looking at a little screen for it to do its job it ain't worth it... I'd like for them to pay my ticket or send me the next model up or something... Owell we will see tomorrow when I call up customer service...

Sorry that you got a citation, Horn3t, but no detector is 100% immune, especially if the LEO was using I/O, or Laser. Cops can also use VASCAR to determine driving speeds without the use of radar or laser. I doubt that this has anything to do with the X70s design or Escort's quality control. Running a speaker at full volume could cause it to be over-driven.

You can certainly send your detector to Escort for testing to see if it is working correctly, but Escort doesn't offer "ticket protection" for the Passport X70. I'm not aware of any detector manufacturer who does (Max 360, notwithstanding).

I think the OP means the speaker in his new X70 xxxxxxxxxxx.

The audio on a radar detector has to be infallible......otherwise the detector is rendered useless.

Probably a one poster who sent his detector in for a new speaker under warranty.

Default Speaker on full

I ran my new as of Sept 01, 2016 X70 at full volume for the two weeks I owned it. No speaker issues whatsoever.

I don't believe "one post posters" who don't hang around to be grilled and quizzed and put under the bright glaring lights of scrutiny about their problem. Without a 2nd post/update, this can be tossed in the trash bin.

Of course just my opinion
