If Detector Tools says that there is no firmware update available for your detector, then we do not recommend you to force it to re-install firmware.

My did the same thing but I did the reset and started working
But the problem was because the new update is corrupted .
Garmin need to fix it for free since is the update that did it .
My still not loading the GPS keeps blinking.

How is your Garmin issue pertinent to Escort's detectors, RCW3023?

Thanks, but I don't need an "Escort apologist". I've installed and worked on radar systems most likely older than you that work just fine.

The only thing a user should update is the defender database.

I didn't "force" it to try to install new firmware, I simply hit the "Check Device for Qualifying Firmware or Defender Updates" button. It decided to do the update to the firmware without saying I was already up to date. So there appears to be a flaw in the software as written that sometimes get confused and goes ahead even when there's no new firmware.

And while we're on that subject - maybe if you paid better programmers, they might write the update program with correct instructions needed to install new firmware over the same version of existing firmware without choking instead of blaming your Users for your poor software execution. (Can you say buggy software?)

I forced a reboot and was able to reinstall the firmware on my 9500ix, and it's been working fine since - THAT POINTS TO BUGGY UPDATE SOFTWARE!.

Just pointing out the fact that the 9500ix has no K band filtering because by electronics standards is a very old unit. You could call it an iphone 4 if you will. The 9500ix will alert like crazy to newer vehicles with BSM and CAS systems.

This new filtering would require both a hardware and software change. I honestly don't understand why Escort still sells it on their web page. It had been dropped but has now returned. It was replaced by a model call IX which has been a hit or miss unit at best.

You can update the defender data base on a 9500ix but there has not been any other kind of an update for it for years now. Hope you get it all figured out.

FurryOne,
Are you using the Mac or Windows version of Detector Tools?

The Passport 9500ix is our most successful detector ever, by far. We continue to offer it because there is demand for it and it will still detect all radar used in the USA.

The ESCORT iX, a newer iteration of the 9500ix, is currently our best reviewed detector overall. Saying it is hit or miss at best is not accurate. It is not popular with the forum crowd, but the 9500ix never was either.

My first detector was the 9500i which worked well. Needed a second detector and bought the new blue screen 9500ix. Liked it so well that I had my 9500i converted to 9500ix. Been running them for almost 10 years and has saved me more than I can count. Both units still work great but with all the false car alerts these days, I updated to the 360c. It seems to work just as well as the 9500ix without as many of the multiple false alerts the 9500ix was prone to. Also the alert direction detection is most handy. Wish laser direction could be included at some point.
