Ah, you are seeing K band alerts too. Instead of under the pavement coils, some intersections are using radar to know when to toggle the lights to change them. After several passes your iX will learn and store these signals and not alert to them anymore but you will still see them displayed in grey on the detector's display.

I will have our camera location supplier review this intersection again. Thanks for the information.

I think in volmans case, the detector is prioritizing the K band at the intersection over the GPS based alert. This is similar to what I have experienced at one intersection around town. Now it shows K greyed and locked out and alerts to the RL cam.

I don't know why detector dan isn't getting any RL alerts for his intersection though. Theres no K band alert so the GPS alerts should go through.

Stephan - quite correct. I've been through one of those two intersections twice since my post and both times I received the RLC voice warning. So I'm chalking that incident up to my not paying attention (not noticing I actually did get a voice alert).

The second intersection I won't pass through until tomorrow. I'll be paying attention this time.

It's a little funny because both those intersections come after automated laser cameras and I've been thinking about those after reading Poolmon's posts. So look at it like this - I'm on special assignment for Poolmon to figure out laser camera lockouts so my attention for other things is going into the toilet...

volman197020 -

Is the RLC camera the rectangular box on top of the pole on the left side of your photo (to the left of the wooden telephone pole)?

In Maryland, they look different. You mostly see them near school zones as well as intersections but they're closer to the ground. Still in metal boxes though.

Yes, that is the camera on top. The lower units are the flash and another box. It actually caught someone about 10 seconds after I took that photo.

Referring back to ER's earlier post, I manually locked out the K band alert going through the intersection at Hamill Rd and 153. Throughout the day today, I passed the intersection twice in both directions. I received one RLC alert AFTER I was clear of the intersection by about 100 yards. This was the camera that should still be in the database. I am concerned....

Reviving this thread
I am using a new IX - 1 week old - fully updated and i had the same problem in Calgary with the IX not showing the red-light / speed-light cameras

3 examples here :
1)driving westbound on McKnight at Falconridge intersection - no warning of the camera
2)driving eastbound on McKnight at Barlow trail NE intersection - warning pop up when i was near the intersection but showing the camera past the intersection on the opposite side - 50m difference
driving westbound at the same intersection - no warning at all even there is an active camera
3) driving eastbound on Beddington @ Country hills - no warning what so ever - this is speed and red light\

any known issues ? any advise?

I don't know whether this might help or not, but be mindful that Redlight/Speed cams are only going to report if they are on the same axis as the direction of enforcement.

For example, let's supposed that there is a camera set up at an intersection, and it is only enforcing traffic coming from the North. If you are traveling from the east or west toward the intersection, you won't receive an alert.

I'll suggest that you PM the EscortRadar and let him know of these locations, and he can look into the Defender database for you.

Best wishes!

Hello TBNTX

yes i am fully aware of the driving directions and when the detector is suppose to alert. This is why i mentioned my driving direction and the intersections. I do not know if there is a GPS issue or something on the database.

Thanks

These locations have not changed in the database. Maybe you had poor GPS reception. Note that vehicles with metallic coated, anti-radiation, windshields will block GPS signals from passing through them.

If you continue to notice GPS related issues then there may be an issue with your ESCORT iX. To set up servicing it please contact us at the number in my signature below.
