I dont understand why this system has to be put in by a certified installer--there are ALLOT us--me included that can install this system and any other piece of CM's we may have. I mean the CI cost an arm and a leg now, then to add another $1000.00 for someone to install it when in reality I could install it better or just as good!!

Only EscortRadar can respond to this, icecoldak. It's a matter of Escort Inc.'s policy. I'm sure that Larry will respond.

Speaking ONLY for me, I think that there's a question of accountability. Someone might be able to install the system themselves, but there are different levels of expertise. If a self-installed system isn't working properly, and the self-installer is engaging Escort to help trouble-shoot, then it could takes hours... days... weeks to figure things out.

Having the system installed by a certified installer negates this.

Regarding installation costs, I don't know what they might be, but I suspect that $1000 is far more than the realized cost. I had my LSP system installed for about $250, so I wonder if estimating a $1000 installation charge might be more than would be observed.

Good point, TBNTX. I for one would be tempted to try an install just to save the cost but I suspect I'd quickly run into difficulties. I've done similar things in the past and quickly regretted my 'DIY' attitude.

Unfortunately, if the 'DIY' people follow through with a qualified installer, they'll come away thinking 'I could have done it myself' but they'll have a working system. Letting them try it themselves is going to cost a lot more for them and Escort.

It's sort of like raising children. How much of a leash do you give them to learn?

Proper installation is key to the performance and reliability of the MAX Ci and MAX Ci 360 so these systems are only available from certified installers.

Average quote for Installation ONLY of a Max 360 ci is about $1500 for the full boat F & R with lidar and radar units F & R. No way you're getting it installed for $250.00 or even $500.00??? I called ABT and they quoted a minimum of $1000 and two days time.
