Default Factory Reset Question For Escort

Does either:
1. A manual factory reset by the user; or
2. A software generated reset (such as firmware v1.09 that added an Interface Preference, and in the process reset all preferences back to factory defaults)
have any affect on the User Database of Marks & TrueLocks?

My understanding is that it does not, but I cannot find a definitive answer covering both situations. The term "original factory settings" in the owner's manual does not address that level of detail. It does list a
way to clear the User Database separately without affecting Preferences, but it does not specifically address the items above (expect #1 by possible implication).

Thanks Much!

Like you, my understanding always was that the factory reset does not mess with anything other than the preferences themselves on the detector....

That was my understanding but I could not find it documented anywhere. I realized I was just assuming it.
Plus, the reset generated by a major software update (few and far between) has never been addressed to my knowledge.
That was why I was trying to get Escort to officially chime-in on the matter.

I doubt if what happens when doing a reset does has changed so the stored User Database of Marks & TrueLocks should not be affected.

You can restore the settings to factory defaults by holding down the SEN and BRT buttons while powering on Max until you see the "restored" message. This does not clear the databases. While you can go into the settings menu and select to clear each individual database, it really isn't needed. AutoLearn will store and unstore false alerts as needed. You can delete improperly marked locations by pressing the MRK button twice when you receive the alert for the location.

That is my understanding too, but I've seen a few individuals comment, that after a reset their RD seemed a bit more chatty than before, so I thought I'd try to just confirm what we have assumed for years.
