Default Max360 External Speaker

Hello,
I had the max CI 360 installed in my 2017 Panny, since the control panel is up inside the dash my installer sent me the external speaker that directly connected to the MAX360 power out and line out. The issue is the volume as MAX is very low. I used the same type speaker with my 9500ci and it was very loud. Not sure if it is a firmware issue, but at 25% volume you cannot hear it at all.

I also checked the display and it does show VII when the external speaker is plugged in. V when internal speaker is used. So it seems the line level needs to be increased when the external speaker is used, since the speaker on the control box under the dash is louder than the external when plugged in.

Is a different setting need to be set? Firmware? Please help!!

There is no setting available to increase the volume. It is because the MAX 360 has a stereo headphone jack where the external speaker uses a mono connector.

Ah, so mono to stereo adapter should do the trick

So is the output MAX Ci 360 stereo out also? If so the adapter with combine both channels but it still seems the firmware should be updated to increase the line out.

I have an adapter and a small headphone amp ordered, I will update when installed. But since the Escort external speaker worked very well with the 9500ci, it stands to reason that it should work the same with the MAX Ci 360.

There is one other option if you'd like to consider it. You might want to look into getting a powered external speaker. I have one for my HAM radio so that I can adjust its volume using a volume knob on it.

These are very inexpensive, and it means that you can pump-up the volume to however loud that you want.

I was helping install my old 9500ci and I was so pleased how loud the external speaker is. I did install a stereo to mono adapter but the volume is not even close.

Will escort release a updated speaker for the Max ci 360? The integrated speaker is loud if it is not under your dash. I just do not understand why it was designed that way. If you spend $4500 and install in a new car, under the dash is not exposed.... so you bury that unit and you can barley hear it.

The MAX Ci integrated speaker should be loud enough, even when buried under the dash. I know that mine is.

We are looking into this. In the meantime, the audio output jack on the MAX Ci is compatible with any stereo audio device that connects to a common 1/8" headphone jack. There are a ton of audio devices you can connect to it to increase the volume.

It usually is but with that Burmester audio with Rush blasting, I cannot hear it and I am only using a concealed display, so at night, OK, during the day... Not so good. I did try a small head phone amp, but it would not stay active. I used adapter and the Escort powered speaker. I am looking for a small amp to solve the issue. Any ideas?

Any update? I just installed the 360Ci in my Mclaren. Can barely hear the radar at max volume because installer had to put the contol box with internal speaker under the passenger footwell. Will need to do something because it is almost useless as is.
