Default New PSL's in EL are WAY off!

I have heard that EL is using a new company to provide PSL data, well whoever they are should be fired!

There is a road in my town that never had a PSL in EL, but now shows 40mph as the limit, where it is 25mph! That caught my attention so I have been running it more and it seems there are a LOT of faulty limits now. Most are 10+ off the limit, which is not good. These roads just showed dashes on the RD before. I would rather have no data than BAD data.

If this is a larger problem I am sure someone is going to be cruising, get the short double alert (might miss it) and possibly get a ticket. Obviously I personally know the limits around town but others may not.

Escort might want to reconsider who they partner with or at least provide us with the company so we can e-mail them their errors. I remember back in the day you could go onto certain site and enter your own data.

It has been that way for quite some time now. There are a few other threads about it. I have the same issue during my daily commute. One rural road shows as 40mph the entire way, but it actually varies from 40, down to 25.

I say it's far worse to have bad info, than to have no info.

I will admit I do not typically run EL locally, only on 30min + road trips, however since the app updates it now not only auto connects, but now pulls the data and shows the PSL with the app fully closed. So now anytime I drive I see how off they are. I want to say last year there was no data for these inaccurate roads. Not sure when they made the switch.

Well.....EL showing a 40 PSL.....in a 20 MPH zone, and there is Mr. LEO - K hunting with all but a double chirp from the RD.

How can I PREVENT EL from auto connecting to the EL database without disabling BT?

Previously my RD would pair with my phone when I would start my vehicle, but would not go any further (ie pull data from EL). Now, with the program fully closed, it connects and pulls data.

Currently with such bad data I do not trust it around town, but I do want to be able to, quickly and easily, launch the app when on longer highway trips.

The only way I have found is when the RD connects I have to fully open the app and force close it, every time I get in the car, is there a better easier way?!

The next time you see incorrect speed limit data, restart Escort Live and see if it corrects it.

I will gladly give it a shot, however I do not think that it will reload with the any different limit (unless I am missing a potential bug you know about)?

I say that because the areas where EL is correct it will adjust the PSL data within 50' of the higher/lower sign. So, it is not like the unit is hanging onto 'old' data, not that I can tell at least. Like I said I will give it a shot today on my way home on the 25/40 road to see if it make a difference and will let you know.

Nevermind then. I thought that this might have been the case.

I will work on a solution for reporting incorrect speed limit data.

Thanks for your input!

Good idea. Thanks Larry. I've run into some incorrect Interstate PSLs, myself.

Actually you were RIGHT! On that road that has been showing 40 is a 25 I force closed the app and re-launched it and it went to the double dash (--) for no data. Eventually it went to 30mph on the different road, the correct data. However, when I turned on to my residential street it kept that 30pmh limit, again I stopped half way down, force closed the app and re-launched it and it went to the (--) for no data. So, it looks like when it goes from a known speed limit to an area where there is no PSL data it will retain the last known limit until it knows a new one. Hopefully that should be a quick bug fix! That is the reason I am seeing so many wrong limits. Thank you and hopefully that helps!

I have seen this happen. We are looking into it. The detector's speed limit indicator does not update with null data after its bluetooth disconnects and reconnects with the app in the same instance.

Until we can solve it in an update restart Escort Live after you have cycled power to the detector or gone out of range with it.

Thanks for the details and for following up!
