Default Disappointed in Max II

I just received a new Max II yesterday, only to have the magnetic mount come apart on the very first use of the product. I was able to get it to finally stay together by removing the spring, but once I drove down the road with the detector it rattled and vibrated excessively. Based on some posts here it sounded like it would be no big deal and that Escort would provide the 360 mount to solve the issue, but customer service informed me this AM that what I have is as good as it gets. They didn't offer to do anything to improve it and suggested I just return it for a refund.

It's a shame, as the detector itself is solid, but the engineering of the mount lets it down.

UPDATE: Larry has shipped a new mount my way and apologized for the misinformation from the CSR re: 360 mount. Look forward to seeing if it solves the issues. Thanks again to Larry for jumping on it.

Oodie -

Sounds strange that they wouldn't even offer to send you a replacement mount. Did this come up in the conversation?

Maybe they misunderstood what the problem was when they suggested you send the unit back. It has to be more expensive for Escort to restock that unit rather than send another mount.

I couldn't agree more. I've reached out to Larry for a second opinion. I would like to try another mount before I write it off. I mentioned the play/movement and the CSR just seemed to think that no matter what I was going to have the rattling. I moved it up higher tonight and it doesn't seem to rattle as much but I could be imagining that. Either way I'm hoping they will at least try...

Other alternative is to do an exchange/replace but that seems wasteful and unnecessary to me, so was trying to avoid for their sake.

As noted above Larry has acknowledged the issue and is shipping a 360 mount my way. He also apologized for the misinformation from the CSR. Much better experience now and hopeful that it will resolve the issue.

A replacement windshield mount is being sent to you Oodie. All Max detectors use the same style of windshield mount. I apologize for the incorrect advice that one of our service reps gave you and for the inconvenience.

Hey, quick clarification to what you said above- are you saying the Max 2 and Max 360 get the same mount?

I just got my Max 2 a couple days ago and had some rattling and saw the suggestion to contact Escort to get the mount replaced with the 360 mount to solve that- but it sounds like you're saying there's no actual difference in mounts so I can't do that?

(if I'm misunderstanding, and CAN do that, what's the best way to make that happen? Thanks!)

There have been revisions along the way but they will all work with each other.

As frustrating as it is, I would recommend getting a mount from Amazon. I replaced the one that came with it when I ordered the MAX II and have not had an issues. I disappointed with MAX II on the technology but that is a different post.

Quick follow up.

On day 4 of use my mount exploded.

I pushed it onto the windshield, started to move the "clip" I guess into the locked position, and the thing blew apart into 4 pieces... the actual sticky round bit- the plastic bit it was attached to, the spring from inside, and the clip piece itself.

So... pretty underwhelmed with the stock mount at this point.

I got home at 5:03 pm and tried to use online chat with Escort, which states it's open until 5:30 pm, and it wasn't open.

So kinda underwhelmed with that too.
